Polperro In Cornwall

Updated on July 4, 2017

Polperro is Amazing

When it comes to beautiful views in Cornwall, you are spoilt for choice, pretty much everywhere you go there is something stunning to see. But Polperro is one of a few places in Cornwall that ranks way up there in the beauty stakes. Possibly because for so many years it has remained totally unchanged and it looks as charming and unique now as it always has. I came here a lot as a child and it hasn't changed a bit since then!

A Fishing Village

Because it is a fishing village, Polperro has a fully working harbour, so it is never quiet when the boats are in, but this is something that only adds to the charm. It is such a natural sound and because it's something you don't hear a lot, it's really beautiful. You can even tune the seagulls out after a while.

Watch out for Seagulls!

You can see the enviable recreational boats and the sturdy working boats in the harbour and be amazed at how such a small harbour can be so lively. Just be sure to guard your food if you eat outside, the seagulls are brave, even if you are not.

The Cliff Views are Amazing

Climbing up to the top of the cliffs might be difficult, especially in hot weather, but it is worth every single footstep. The views from up high are incredible and even in the winter I would recommend going up there because the sea looks so different compared to the summer.

The Shops are Small, but Perfect

Shopping in Polperro is what you might expect, the array of individual, unique shops that can only be found in small high streets, there are no big names, just independent and quirky shops. This includes an all year round Christmas shop, yep, I thought it was just a pop up shop, but apparently he's there all year round! It's staffed by a very friendly man who seems really happy to be surrounded by Christmas all year (who wouldn't be?)

Polperro Tram

Polperro will not be easy to get around if you have limited mobility as it is really steep and there are a lot of steps, but the Polperro Tram will take you on a tour of the village, and the driver very kindly posed for a photo which was nice. You can also take a boat tour of the harbour, they run really frequently and will give you the chance to see all of Polperro from the sea. It is very popular and looks like great fun!

Visit Polperro

Polperro is a stunning place with spectacular views, it is definitely somewhere I would recommend.

Cornwall is, indeed, a beautiful part of the country. If I ever get to visit Cornwall I will pay Polperro a visit!
