Princess Cruise Options for Families

Updated on October 15, 2010

Princess Cruises have long been favorites of people of all ages. With over 350 ports of call all over the world, Princess Cruises offers its passengers access to many different countries, customs, and experiences. The many destination options that Princess Cruise line offers makes it the top of many vacationers’ lists. However, Princess Cruises also offer family-friendly and multi-generational activities that make it a great choice for families too.

For Adults

Princess Cruise ships offer great entertainment options for adults to enjoy while children and teens are participating in their own on-board activities. Adults can watch shows, including Broadway hits and long-running classics, go dancing, or attend a stand -up comedy show. Themed parties are always part of the agenda and offer adults the chance to participate. Bars and fine dining on the ship are popular options for adult entertainment, as are spas, casinos, and boutiques.

For Teens

Teens are often the hardest vacationers to please. Finding safe and popular vacation activities for your picky teen can be a real challenge, but Princess Cruises’ teen options are sure to be a hit. On many of its cruise ships (including Caribbean PrincessCrown PrincessDiamond PrincessEmerald Princess, Golden PrincessGrand PrincessRuby Princess, Sapphire Princess and Star Princess), there is a dedicated facility for teens, a video game arcade, pools for teens, gyms with equipment, and a put-put course with a golf simulator.

Teen centers on these ships are top of the line, with private whirlpools, sundecks, and big screen televisions. Nintendo is available for gaming teens, and Karaoke and juke boxes provide lots of fun for teen groups. Outdoor theaters on Princess cruise ships (called “Movies Under the Stars”) provide great entertainment for families to enjoy together. Princess also offers age-specific dining so that teens can eat some meals with their own age group if they wish.

For Children

Younger children can also find age-appropriate entertainment on board, from games to crafts to movies. Kids-only dining options give children a chance to socialize, and ship Olympics give kids a chance for exercise. Karaoke and talent shows allow children to showcase their skills and “Edutainment” programs teach children useful skills and knowledge while concentrating on helping them to have fun! The “Fun Zone” activities that are designed for children are separated into two age groups—ages 3 to 7 and ages 8 to 12. This ensures that all activities are age appropriate and kids have the chance to make friends in their peer group while enjoying their vacations.

Nice hub. I love Princess cruises, and especially the Movies Under the Stars that you mentioned. Princess is my favorite cruise line. I have also been on NCL and Holland America. Voted up and interesting.
