Pueblos Of Puerto Rico-Part 12
This is actually the thirteenth edition of Pueblos of Puerto Rico.
We are driving and taking pictures to give all of you a "virtual tour" of this wonderful Caribbean island that is part of the United States.
You don't need a passport. All citizens of Puerto Rico are American citizens too. Puerto Rico just may become the 51st State later this year.
Well, scroll down and travel with us. We will be visiting the Atlantic beachfront and moving inland to the mountains on this trip.
Below is a map showing our trip.
If you get an opportunity, I will say it would be well worth your time and money to visit. You will love Puerto Rico!
Barceloneta is located in North Central Puerto Rico on the Atlantic Ocean.
This Pueblo is known as La Ciudad de las Piñas or The City of Pineapples.
As you can probably tell from its name, it was named this by someone who came there from Barcelona, Spain.
Barceloneta was founded in 1881 and it covers 36.39 square miles.
The mayor of Barceloneta is Hon. Sol Luis Fontánes Olivo and it is made up of 4 barrios and 16 sectors. They are:
- Barceloneta Pueblo
- Florida Afuera
- Palmas Altas
- Abra del Pimiento
- Tiburon I, II y III

Florida is just to the South of Barceloneta. I know, I know; did I mean Georgia? Ha, nope we are talking Florida, Puerto Rico; "La Tierra del Río Encantado Or The Enchanted River Pueblo.

Up into the mountains we drove. Utuado is the Pueblo and it is known as La Ciudad del Viví or The City of the Vivi. Vivi is the river that runs through Utuado.
Utuado was founded in 1739 and it covers 114.99 square miles. It is a very large Pueblo.
The mayor of Utuado is Alan J. Gonzalez Cancel.
Utuado is made up of 23 distinct barrios; they are:

We drove further South to our last Pueblo of this hub. Twisting and turning through the mountains, we stopped for some good ole' Puerto Rican favorites; Pinchos.
Adjuntas is called "La Suiza de Puerto Rico" or Puerto Rico's Switzerland. This Pueblo was founded in 1815.
Adjuntas feels like a tropical rain forest and looks like it too.
The mayor of Adjuntas is Hon. Jaime H. Barlucea.
Adjuntas is made up of 17 distinct barrios; they include:
- Adjuntas Pueblo
- Guayabo Dulce
- Juan González
- Vegas Abajo

I hope you enjoyed this trip through some of Puerto Rico.
As with my latest hubs on these virtual tour; I am putting something from someone famous from one of the Pueblos listed. This time it is a man from Adjuntas; a great musician, Roque Navarro.
