Ramadan Shopping in Dubai

Updated on June 21, 2016

During Ramadan, the fast-paced life of Dubai shifts gear to match the rhythms of fasting and prayer. Most restaurants and cafes remain closed in the mornings, and life in the city almost grinds to a halt. But when the sun sets, Dubai starts to wake up. As offices empty early and the fast is broken, streets and shopping malls come to life with both Muslims and non-Muslims, out to enjoy a night of good food and shopping.

Ramadan is a great time for shopping in Dubai, with almost all the shopping malls, hotels and souks offering tempting discounts and promotions on their products. Stores provide exclusive deals and offers on local and international brands to attract the evening crowds, while supermarkets offer discounts and loyalty rewards to encourage people to shop. During the evenings, people turn out in great numbers at shopping malls like Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Deira, Mercato, and City Centre Mirdif. The hotels often offer special deals on food, lodging, spas and entertainment to capture the Ramadan rush – it’s an opportune time to dine out on great food without burning a hole in your pocket.

As Iftar is the evening meal families and friends are most likely to enjoy together, many restaurants offer specials based on Iftar - unique Iftar menus and entrees are a crowd puller. The Dubai World Trade Center also hosts the famous Ramadan Night Markets from June 23rd –July 2nd. This traditional street-style market hosts a number of retailers from across the world and offers a diverse variety of products targeting Dubai’s vibrant community. The Night Market is an experience for families and friends come together, have fun, enjoy the food, and shop for local and international products.

Although it might not be the best time for sightseeing, Ramadan is the perfect time for tourists seeking indulgence, with airlines offering tickets at concessional rates and high end hotels providing fabulous Ramadan package deals and discounts.

Shopping fanatics, go ahead and splurge - all your fantasies of grabbing luxury brands at great discounts become a reality during Ramadan. Enjoy a delightful round of shopping at one of the world’s most luxurious cities, while keeping your budget intact.
