Reasons Why Myrtle Beach Is A Vacation Value

Updated on January 3, 2015

It's vacation time! Do you know where YOUR family is going this year? If you love a vacation destination that is jam-packed with almost every activity imaginable, then Myrtle Beach should be on your vacation to-do list!

Located in South Carolina, Myrtle Beach has been a vacationer's paradise for several years. The town was officially named Myrtle Beach in 1900, and since then, its population, as well as the number of visiting travelers, has steadily increased. Myrtle Beach attracts well over 14 million visitors per year. Those visitors come from all over the globe, including Canada and Great Britain.

Perhaps one of the reasons Myrtle Beach is such a popular vacation destination is the fact that it's located on the coast and boasts warm weather almost year-round. Myrtle Beach has an "off season", which means that hotel prices are drastically reduced. However, if you visit in the off-season, some attractions may not be available.

One of the newest attractions at Myrtle Beach is the Skywheel, a 200 ft. tall ferris wheel that is situated directly on the popular Boardwalk and overlooks the Atlantic. This popular attraction boasts enclosed gondolas that can seat from 6-8 people and offers climate control, as well as panic buttons for those who are afraid of heights. Riding during the daytime offers a great view of the popular "Strip", and riding at night offers a spectacular, breathtaking view of the city in all its splendor at night.

Myrtle Beach is also known for its "Restaurant Row," which is just as its name implies--a line of restaurants along King's Highway, or Highway 17. Restaurant Row features every kind of restaurant imaginable, from fast food to fine dining. I'm sure that if you visit Myrtle Beach, you won't have any problem finding something to satisfy the appetites of everyone in your family. There are also shore-line and riverboat cruises, which offer dinner and other activities. Be sure to check those out as well!

Whether you're taking the entire family for a vacation or just treating you and that special someone in your life to a weekend or week-long getaway, you won't have a problem finding appropriate accommodations. Myrtle Beach is known for its vast array of motels, hotels, and bed and breakfast inns. From the simple to the lavish, Myrtle Beach offers something for everyone. If you'd like a hotel that offers a full restaurant and other amenities such as indoor and outdoor pools, check out some of their highly-rated and family friendly resorts. If you're looking for something simple, cozy, and intimate, there are some bed and breakfast inns that are sure to suit your needs perfectly.

If you're going to Myrtle Beach to enjoy some fishing, there are plenty of ways to do that. You can either fish from one of the numerous piers, or you can contact one of the many charter boats that offer deep-sea fishing packages.

Myrtle Beach is also famous for its many malls, outlet stores, mom and pop stores, and everything in between. Many people come to Myrtle Beach just for the shopping alone. Tanger Outlet Mall is by far one of the most popular shopping destinations in Myrtle Beach. There is also a huge flea market located in the area, so be sure to bring your shopping list and an ample amount of cash and credit cards!

If you're into the adrenaline rush, Myrtle Beach can help satisfy that, too. From amusement parks, zip lines, and water sports such as parasailing, banana boat rides, and jet ski and sailboat rentals, Myrtle Beach can provide a memorable, heart-pounding vacation you won't soon forget!

If you love attending shows, Myrtle Beach is a winner in that area as well. The Dixie Stampede is just one of the many theater show options available if you choose Myrtle Beach as your vacation destination. The Dixie Stampede features everything from laser light shows to popular music celebrity concerts and comedy shows. There is also The Palace, which is located within the famous and popular Broadway at the Beach attraction. Broadway at the Beach also offers a variety of shops, restaurants, and other attractions that are sure to please the entire family. This location is also home to Ripley's Aquarium, which is a great entertainment and educational attraction. If you love an out-of-the-ordinary dining experience, be sure to also visit The Hard Rock Cafe while you're there!

These are just a few of the numerous things there are to see and do in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Be sure to put it on your vacation list this year!
