Cradled in the coastal area of Los Angeles County, neighbor to Rancho Palos Verdes and Hermosa Beach the sleep little beach city of Redondo is home to over 63,261 which the Census reported in 2000. Approximately 20 miles from downtown Los Angeles and 7 miles away from LAX this little town has been a vacation destination for those who are seeking solace, serenity, and Peace for over a Century. A city as tranquil as the Ocean it is lined with quaint Boutiques, local coffee shops were a poet can express their work or a person can read a book while sipping on a freshly brewed latte'. In an area only 6.35 miles long you can walk along the Ocean's shores from one end to another while taking in the breathtaking scenery of the Seagulls, Whales, and Seals. Nestled in Redondo Beach are fifteen parks, thirteen parkettes and two miles of Sandy Beach that you can roll your toes through while walking to the King Harbor Pier enjoying the fisherman who has cast their lines waiting for a good catch, or shopping among the conglomeration of little stores that boast souvenirs at inexpensive prices for you to take with you when your adventure is over. Redondo Beach is home to the award- winning Civic Opera Light Of South Bay and 12 public schools which are some of the most "distinguished" in the country.

If you are traveling in the Los Angeles area check-in to the Portofino Hotel & Yacht Club, Redondo Pier Inn or take a jaunt up the hill and stay at the Palos Verdes Inn just walking minutes from the beach. Locals in Redondo are some of the friendliest in the Country with their warm inviting smiles and a pleasant hello ,who would resist the ambiance and charm of a wonderful beach city.

If you choose to live in Redondo Beach you will find many activities to do on the weekend the city is always planning something for its residents to attend. Waking up on a Sunday morning you may find hundreds of runners moving down the Esplanade raising money for Cancer, MS, or even Child Abuse. Fourth of July is breathtaking just grab a blanket , walk to the beach and check out the fireworks display as they sparkle across the Ocean waters. Instead of driving take a walk to one of the many local restaurants stopping by Eat at Joe's that has been a local favorite for over 30 years. They have one of the best breakfast menus in town, great casual dining for a laid back little city that everyone would enjoy. o you enjoy fresh seafood? Another hometown favorite that many of us enjoy is Quality Seafood you can purchase fresh Seafood or dine in enjoying fresh lobster, scallops , salmon, seafood that would tantalize your palette look for there specials enjoy the great food appreciating the ambiance, history and atmosphere of a place that over sixty-thousand people call home , Redondo Beach, California. Why do I recommend such a quaint little city? I lived it, enjoyed it given the opportunity I would do it again, they always say there is "No Place Like Home."

8 years ago from SomeWhere Out There It is a beautiful place and I can bet I can narrow his house down, I know every stretch of that area it is so beautiful and I miss it there. Maybe you can try again to get a Visa and see what they say, everyone deserves a second chance. :)

Hi AEvan long time no chat ;) I had some friends who live in Redondo beach. Jeff Flinn! I employed him many years ago in my coin business and I spent some time there. He has a beautiful beach property there about three steps from the sea.

I miss it a lot! I still have 3 kids who live in LA but saddly can't visit them as I got banned for spending to long in the USA without a visa :(

But enjoying Europe and all it has to offer now.

Good to see you're still rocking the Hub

I used to live in Torrence which meant I was in Redondo Beach frequently. It is a beautiful place and there is so much to do and so many other beautiful beaches nearby. Good hub.

papalopp: I enjoyed Manhattan Beach, Long Beach, Hermosa Beach, Newport, Laguna and the list goes on, they are all beautiful beaches and each one is unique. I am partial about Redondo Beach but it is because we were blessed to live there and I miss it bunches. I see that you also have a place in your heart for SD Count's coastline so you can relate and truly understand what I wrote. :)

This was a fun read. It made think most other folks outside of So. Cal might not fully appreciate this. If you visit Manhatton Beach, Long Beach, Seal Beach. Huntington, Newport Laguna Beaches down to Capistrano Beach, they are all different! Mostly 'cause they reflect a neighborhood makeup. Redondo Beach is kind of "picture postcard". You gotta love the Pacific Park on Santa Monica's Pier. I am so partial with San Diego County's coastline for the last quarter century, I know I'm home.

Redondo is nice. Since I live in Pasadena, though, it's almost as easy to drive the farther distance to Malibu. We just went to see whales at Pt. Vicente in Rancho Palos Verde. Nice Hub.

anja: You must visit it what a beautiful place we enjoyed living in Redondo Beach I am so appreciative of the opprtunity of being a part of such a wonderful community. :)

Tony0724: Naughty! lolololo :D They are all beautiful beaches when we lived in Redondo Beach I looked forward to going home everynight and one weekend we had forgotten that there was going to be a run on the Esplanade and woke up on a Sunday to people yelling and screaming we didn't know what was going on, lololo. It was pretty hilarious! One fourth of July a gentleman did not realize I was looking out our window while you sprinkled our bush in the front of our home, he was so loaded he thought the tree was talking to him, he took off running believing the bush had a voice and asked him not to tee-tee there, lololololo :D
