Disney's All Star Sports Hotel
Review of Disney's All Star Sports Hotel
Disney designed several hotels aimed at the family. They created the All Stars Resorts to be economic and family friendly. My family and I have had the pleasure of staying at the All Star Sports on many vacations. This is a nice hotel for the money and convenience it offers.
The price of this hotel and the others like it vary depending on the time of the year you stay. We usually stay in January and that is considered the off season, so it is cheaper.
We stayed in a standard room. The rooms are 260 sq. feet and have either one king size bed or two double beds. The room has one table, two chairs, iron, ironing board, hair dryer and a safe. You will have a view of the courtyard or the pool. If you need a refrigerator you can get one upon request. The rooms all have complimentary WiFi, voicemail and free shuttle service to the airport and the parks.
Before you get to your room you will notice the larger than life sports icons all around the courtyards. My family and I really liked the two story football helmet. You will see everything from surfing, tennis, basketball to baseball scattered around the hotel and grounds.
The two pools on the grounds are decorated with surfing and baseball motifs. These pools are heated, you can see the steam coming off of them when it’s cold. While we were there in January it was quite cold for Florida. The temperatures were in the 40’s when we got up in the mornings.Regardless of the temperatures people were still swimming in the evenings. It was way too cold for me to get in a pool even a heated one!
The hotel has all the character you would expect from a Disney property. Everywhere you look you see the little details that set it above the rest. When you enter the lobby you will notice all of the posters, and pictures of famous athletes. If you love sports this is the place for you, if not it still has so much to offer.
The All Star Sports has a large cafeteria style restaurant. Here you will be able to get breakfast, lunch and dinner. The sports motif is evident here as well. If you would like you can purchase a plastic cup and refill it for free the whole time you are there. This can save you money as well.
The staff here is friendly and helpful. The hotel is exceptionally clean and neat with attention to detail. I must say, however, that depending on where your room is located it may take you 7 to 12 minutes to walk to the restaurant or bus stop. I know this because we timed our walks to and from our room. They also have a great laundromat if you need it, we always pack light and I wash once during our stay.
Overall this is a family friendly hotel, designed to save you money. We always enjoy our stay here and would recommend it to anyone.
