Sea World Orlando FL: Killer Whales, Dolphins, Sea Lions, and Roller Coasters!

Updated on March 27, 2011

Sea World Orlando FL...

The theme park capitol of the world, Orlando FL, is an amazing place with many great attractions such as Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and Sea World Orlando FL…  The last one, Sea World, is one of my favorites because of its marine life specialty and the many seal, dolphin, and killer whale shows and attractions…  Just about everyone has heard of Shamu the Killer Whale which is probably the number one draw at the park.  They have designed a show just for Shamu and it’s the reason many people attend the park!

Another fantastic show at the Sea World Orlando FL Park is the Clyde and Seamore Show, which features a pair of sea lions as the stars!  They will entertain you will their hilarious antics, and also introduce sea otters and a walrus…  It’s a great show for the whole family!  They also have seasonal shows at different times of the year, including the Clyde and Seamore Countdown to Christmas, and the Shamu Rocks show for some rock and roll fun…

Shark Encounter and Wild Arctic at the Sea World Orlando FL...

The Shark Encounter attraction will teach you a lot about different sharks around the world and includes an acrylic glass tunnel that you can walk through and view many sharks and fish swimming all around and above you!  It’s one of the most amazing experiences at the park, and there are many shows and specialist tours that you can take to understand sharks better and watch them feeding.  There is also an incredible restaurant at this attraction where you can enjoy a good meal while watching the sharks around you…

Sea World Orlando FL has also built a great themed area called the Wild Arctic which is specifically for cold water species, such as the Beluga Whales, Polar Bears, and the Walrus.  Again, this exhibit was fantastically designed and is a joy to walk through the attraction and see the different animals in their native environment, and swimming through the cold water.  I love visiting this exhibit, and I consider it one of my top favorites at Sea World.

Penguin Encounter and Roller Coasters at Sea World Orlando FL...

There is also a Penguin Encounter exhibit at Sea World Orlando FL, which is a crowd favorite!  In a temperature controlled pool and shore area, a group of penguins of various species can be viewed as they interact with each other and swim underwater hunting for food or just having fun!  Every now and then, the environment area spews out a snowfall so that the penguins will feel more at home, and they also have cubby holes located along the shoreline where they can nest or sleep.  You can spend hours just watching these marine mammals as they live their lives!

There are also separate sea lion and seal tanks for viewing and feeding, and a dolphin tank that also allows you to purchase fish for feeding them.  People tend to stay for a while here as they enjoy watching the fun creatures.  Sea World Orlando FL also has a Florida Manatee rehabilitation program, where sick or wounded manatees are brought into the park and cared for until they are well enough to be released back into the wild.  This is a very interesting exhibit, because most people are highly fascinated by the looks and habits of these endangered creatures.

If you like roller coasters, then you will love two of the craziest ones in Central Florida, called the Kraken, and Manta…  Remember, that the same company that owns the Busch Gardens Tampa FL Park also owns Sea World Orlando FL, so they have learned how to make great roller coasters!  There is also a Journey to Atlantis ride which you will also love, but it’s not really a coaster.  It involves a little water action toward the end though, so you might just get wet!  There is so much to see and do at Sea World that you will probably need another day at least…  Try the Polynesian Luau show at the park, which is also a crowd favorite!  Have fun, and don’t forget the Sea World Discovery Cove, and Aquatica Water Park…
