7 Reasons Why I Love the Beach

Updated on June 19, 2013

Each year my family has ventured to the beach for our family vacation. Well except for the last two years when weddings interrupted our excursions to the beach. It got me to thinking about how much I missed going to the beach. Here are the reasons why.

I just love to pack up the car, and head to a place where it is hotter, sandier and the air is filled with the smell of salt and sea gulls squawking.

Only kidding, those are things my wife and kids like about the beach. Well, without the sea gulls.

I just love to take my beach chair and umbrella, stake out a place on the beach, and sit there all day tanning. I also love to lather on the the suntan lotion. Look at my skin how bronze.

Wait, that's why my wife loves to go to the beach. Me I like the beach house and air conditioning.

I love to run down to the ocean. Jump around in the surf as I wait for the waves. Once I get tired of that I float out a little further and enjoy the relaxation. There's nothing like soaking up the sun while floating along in the ocean.

Wait, that's another reason why my wife loves to go to the beach. Once again,I am still in the beach house, watching television. Oh yeah, it;s getting warmer so I turned up the air conditioning.

I love when our family goes out to the all you can eat seafood. I also love when we buy fresh seafood and bring it home at lay the spread out on the table...

Wait a minute. That is another reason my wife and sons like going to the beach. I don't like seafood I'd rather have a hamburger or a nice pizza.

I love the boardwalk packed with people. All the rides, The walking back and forth, back and forth, then back again.

Again it is my wife and kids who really like the boardwalk. They can play the games in those boardwalk arcades for hours on end. There is an upside I do get to watch the grandchildren while they are playing. There are a couple of things I do like about the boardwalk. I do like the Kohr's Ice Cream Shop. I also like a certain pizza place whose name escapes me at the moment. I also like some of the little acts who set up on the boardwalk in order to make extra money.

By now you're probably wondering what I do like about the beach.

I like the fact my whole family is together at one time in one place. I love the smiles on the children as they play in the water., ride the rides on the boardwalk, or just engage in random play. I love talking to my family into the wee hours of the night. The beach is about memories which carry us through the year.

The fact my wife loves these trips doesn't hurt either. We husbands need all the brownie points we can get for later when we mess up. So there you have it, the reasons I like the beach. No matter where you go on your vacation, whether you like it or not remember it is all about not where you are but who your with and the memories you will make.

I am writing a book and would like to quote you as follows. Is this OK?

"I like the fact my whole family is together at one time in one place. I love the smiles on the children as they play in the water. I love talking to my family into the wee hours of the night. The beach is about memories which carry us through the years. T.B Whitt, Author"

This made me smile! Your wife and kids obviously love the beach, but I bet they love you even more because you are willing to keep doing something you don't particularly like just because it makes your family happy. And rather than complaining about the parts you don't like, it sounds like you simply focus on the fact that you're together making memories as a family. THAT's what it's all about. :-)

The beach can be so relaxing. I find that I can just lay there and lose sense of time. Thanks for bringing back nice memories for me. I vote up.

I absolutely LOVE THIS...It describes so much of my family in a nutshell. Sacrifices are made to ones personal likes and dislikes just to see the ones you love happy. Thank you for this, I am just about to turn in for the day and now with a smile on my face and memories of my family...sweet dreams.
