Single Lady Cruise Companions

First, I want to be specific with regards to the word companion as referenced in my title. The cruise lines that offer these services to women cruising solo have very strict rules that encompass how much companionship a gentlemen host may offer any single guest. Gentlemen hosts usually range in age from the 40's to the 70's, and are required to be very good parners on the dance floor. Ballroom dancing as well as the Cha Cha Cha are some of the back from the past favorites along with Swing Style and many other dance flavors.

Carnival Cruise Lines reports that their fleet carry over 1 million guests annually over the age of 55. Although they do not cater specifically to the needs of senior cruisers and are generally much larger ships, they do offer a great variety of activities that even active seniors enjoy. They don't, however, offer gentlemen companions.

The lines such as Holland and Silversea Cruises that really court the mature cruisers are much more costly and luxury enhanced. These ships are also much smaller carrying far fewer passengers and provide a more catered and personal experience. The words that define these cruise lines are, " the ultimate luxury cruise experience". Another added benefit of the smaller luxury ships is the fact that they can dock in places that the large vessels can't, thereby offering additional destination stops and places to visit. The smaller ships offer more customized itineraries that you won't find with the larger contemporary cruise lines.

Lauretta Blake of Working Vactions, Inc., recruits gentlemen for some of the cruise lines that offer the services of a gentlemen host. The company has very high standards that are applied to any gentlemen wanting to live aboard a cruise ship and meet interesting people for next to free. Most of the hosts had successful careers in business, law, finance, and military. According to Blake, the gentlemen are selected on the basis of out going personality, impeccable manners, kind, considerate, good conversationalists and, of course, great dancing skills. So any of you single gentlemen out there that are reading this and who meet the criteria, who would love to travel at a very minimal cost, check with this company or a similar company who works with cruise lines in hiring gentlemen hosts. Any of you single ladies out there that are reading this and who would love to cruise but do not because of lacking the company of a gentlemen, you can now book that cruise.

It is a pretty neat concept for single ladies that can afford it. LOL Thanks for commenting.

Great hub, TravelAbout! Who knew? Now it seems obvious that cruiselines might also follow the ClubMed concept, where there are staffers whose only job is to help guests enjoy vacation activities. It's no fun struggling to find a dance partner, so it's great to know that there'll always be one on hand. Thanks for sharing!
