History

For those that don't know Stratosphere is a huge tower located in Las Vegas Boulevard. It is a casino, hotel as well as a tower.

The Stratosphere is the 9th tallest freestanding building in the entire United States as well as the tallest building in all of Las Vegas.

The building was designed by Bob Stupak, and it was his dream to make such a structure. During the construction the project caught on fire, but luckily no one was hurt and the project restarted a bit later.

In April 30, 1996 the project was finally finished and was now open. It was an instant tourist attraction, and attracted lots of attention.

The tower opened with only two rides which were the High Roller, and the Big Shot both located at the very top of the tower.

In 2003 Stratosphere opened a ride known as X-Scream opened. The X-Scream is a ride that moves at the very top of the tower, and makes you feel as if you are about to fall.

The Insanity opened in 2005, and was a instant success. The insanity ride hangs on top of the Stratosphere tower, and spins you at about 40 MPH over Las Vegas!

Unfortunately the High Roller was shut down and dismantled in 2006, since it needed refurbishing and it would cost a lot of money.

There is also a place were you can skydive. You attach a rope, jump from the top and slowly land at the bottom.

The Stratosphere is a must see tourist attraction if you are ever in Las Vegas. It is not only fun but a great place to just take a vacation or a trip.

Other Features

Like I said the tower is also a casino, and a hotel. There is a elevator when you first enter the tower, and it takes you all the way to the top section of the tower. There is a desk to check in at and you will be shown to your room. After that you have all your time to do whatever you want. The casino features slot machines, video poker and some other arcade games for adults. It is a pretty great place to have fun at by yourself. Stratosphere also has an indoor mall so that you can shop at your leisure. There are normal stores inside including restaurants, cafes, gift chops, and much more. Once you decide you want some air you can go to the top of the tower where all the rides are, and even if you don't want to ride you can still get a great view. If you are brave enough to go skydiving that's an option too. Like I said before there is a special section were you are allowed to skydive off of the tower. Stratosphere is a great place to visit, and you won't regret going there.
