Switzerlands Beautiful Le Montreux Palace and Willow Stream Spa
Fairmont Montreux Palace, Switzerland
What is the most incredible hotel you have ever stayed in? I can answer that question easily, without even a second thought, it is the Montreux Palace.
Fairmont Montreux Palace
The Montreux Palace is truly a palace.
The Montreux Palace is located in the romantic city of Montreux, Switzerland, sometimes referred to as the “pearl of the Swiss Riviera”. The hotel overlooks the beautiful Lake Geneva and is surrounded by the majesty of the Alps. This five star establishment was built in 1906, a period that history calls the “Beautiful time” in Europe. From its monumental architectural structure to the artistry of the interior, The Montreux Palace is the height of luxury. It has spacious lounges, high ceilings, gold leaf décor, sparkling chandeliers, and many other amenities that make it look like the palace that it truly is.

The Beautiful Entry at the Montreaux Palace
The Montreux Palace suites are elegant and spacious,
The Montreux Palace has 185 rooms available, with an addition of the more popular suite selection which consists of 50 suites, divided into nine categories. The Montreux Palace suites range from the smallest which is the House Standard Suite to the largest which is the Sir Stamford Raffles Suite, named after the British statesman who founded the city of Singapore.
On my visit I stayed in one of the Lakeview Junior Suites, and believe me, there is not a room in any hotel I have ever stayed in that compares to it. The room had large windows that were covered with automatic shutters that faced the majestic Lake Geneva. French doors opened onto a balcony that offered outside seating. Oversized ceilings made the room feel enormous, and the interior was impeccable, with crown molding and wainscotings making it look more like a work of art than a simple room. The bathroom had marble countertops and a Jacuzzi tub with a separate shower. It was large and spacious and elegant, need I say more. The rate for this beautiful room was $1285.00 a night.

The Montreux Palace dining facilities.
Although Switzerland is an amazing country, and Montreux a beautiful city, the Montreux Palace was an adventure all on its own. Located inside the Montreux Palace are four different restaurants and two bars.
The Jaan, a contemporary restaurant which offers a fusion of French-Asian food, makes dinner more than a meal, it is an event. Menu items include such delicacies as Green and White Asparagus with Frog Legs with Garlic Herb Red Wine Mustard, to Duck Foie Gras form Alsace, breaded with Cajun Nuts plated with Granny Smith Jelly and Fruits Chutney with Tonka Beans. Main courses ranged from Pigeon from France, to Fillet of Swiss Veal. The meals themselves were an artistic creation.
La Brasserie du Palace offers a more casual dining experience serving authentic Parisian Brasserie Dishes and original Swiss specialties. The bar serves different coffees during the day and in the evening converts to a wine bar.
For a marvelous breakfast buffet visit La Palmeraie. This winter garden spot on the upper ground floor of the hotel provides an incredible view of Lake Geneva as you enjoy a Swiss breakfast, it makes you just want to take your time and enjoy the experience.
La Terrasse du Petit Palace is only open during the summer season, from May to September. It is located across the road from the main hotel on a small terrace bursting with flowers. You can see Lake Geneva and the Alps while sitting at the small round tables set for their diners. This restaurant offers a salad buffet and a range of grilled fish and meat.
Both The Golden Rose, which is a piano bar, and Harry’s New York Bar are great places to gather and enjoy a bit of a rest from your day of sight-seeing in a relaxing atmosphere.

Amrita Wellmess Center part of the Montreux Palace
In 2002 the Montreux Palace was extended to include the Amrita Wellness area. This Spa is located in the middle of the garden in front of the hotel, offering a combination of treatments and services. The Amrita center has two pools, indoors and out. It has two separate steam baths one for men and one for women. Spend time in the saunas, cold baths, hamams, or Jacuzzi that are located in the pool area, you won't be sorry you did. You can even enlist the services of a personal fitness trainer who can assist you with an exercise workout to fit your personal needs.
The Amrita Center not only has an area equipped with modern cardiovascular equipment but provides ongoing courses in Yoga, Qigong, and Tai Chi.
After your workout you can schedule an appointment for a variety of body treatments including classical and eastern massage, ayurvedic treatments, hydrotherapy, anti-cellulite treatments, LaStone therapy, Lomi Lomi Nui, Thai massage, Shiatsu, and relaxation rituals. Believe me, this is the mother of all Spa’s, make sure you take advantage of these treatments when you go to the Montreux Palace!
The Amrita Center also offers a complete beauty care facility where you can get spiffy for whatever adventures you have planned for the day, or night, in Switzerland.
From Amrita Center to Willow Stream Spa
In 2007, the beautiful Montreux Palace and Amrita Center was purchased by the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts Group, and was renamed the Fairmont Montreux Palace. The Amrita Spa also underwent a name change to become Willow Stream Spa to conform to the rest of the Fairmont Spas. This change just reinforces the quality that you receive at the Montreux Palace.
