It took us half a day to travel on a bus from Manila, Philippines to this really magnificent and tranquil place in Pagudpud Ilocos Norte. So if you are planning to travel by land, start it when the sun goes down. I suggest that you go on a bus. You can buy your tickets in bus terminals situated in Cubao, Quezon City or near UST. Buy them in the morning, for it is hard to get one at night. Tickets for most of the nice buses are immediately sold out. The bus ride cost ranges between 18 and 25 USD as of May 2012.
Now, if you have just a little time you may take a plane to the Laoag Airport in Ilocos. From there you can easily go to Pagudpud in 2 to 3 hours via another bus. Be prepared for it is not going to be air-conditioned anymore.

Where to Stay in Pagudpud Ilocos Norte?
You can either make a reservation in a resort hotel facing the Blue Lagoon or go to Saud beach. It is easy to find a cheap room accommodation in Saud beach though.
We chose to stay at a cheap beach resort in Saud. We paid around 43 USD per night. It was an air-conditioned room with two beds, a queen - sized bed and a single one. It feels weird when there is one more bed in the room that isn’t going to be used. We put our bags and clothes and stuff on it instead of putting it inside the cabinet.
Note: Charge your gadgets’ batteries right away. Windmills are nearby and it causes electricity fluctuation in the morning, it lasted for 2 hours when we were there.
Why is it part of the Top Places to go list?
As we set our feet in Pagudpud Ilocos Norte, we were welcomed by very warm people. The tricycle driver who brought us to our hotel was so nice. He offered to be our tour guide the following day for 600 pesos or around 15 USD per tour for 2 to 3 persons. There are 2 sets to choose from and that is either northbound or southbound. If you pick the northbound tour, the driver will bring you to 8 tourists’ spots and the southbound tour has 4 tourists’ spots. We paid thirty pesos for the tricycle ride by the way, which in USD is just 73 cents.
This haven offers a lot to tourists. It is called the Boracay of the north because of its very fine, white sand, lovely beaches, good food and fantastic tourists’ spots. I highly recommend the southbound tour and you have to see it for yourself.
You will find serenity at this beach. Party goers might not enjoy that, but it gives you a break from the noise of the city. When you get the chance, consider visiting Pagudpud Ilocos Norte. Aside from helping the people and the tourism industry, I am sure that you will find pleasure in this place of tranquil.
