Tupelo Buffalo Park and Zoo

The Zoo is the largest in Mississippi and it keeps 450 animals year round. It's located in Tupelo, Mississippi and it covers over 175 total acres. American Bison line the zoo entrance paths. The zoo, is home to several unique animals such as an African Lion, Kangaroos, Camels, Water Buffalo, Silverback Gorillas and Hedgehogs. The animals are sectioned off but, there is still a feeding area for certain animals.

My Personal Thoughts: To be honest, if you love animals then you will love the Buffalo Park and Zoo. Free parking, low entry fees and tons of animals all over the place. The Buffalo bus ride is awesome to say the least. Plenty of shaded areas, food courts and a nice size petting zoo make this a top notch park.

The Gulf Coast of Mississippi

Gulf Coast Beaches (Gulfport, Ms)

The Gulf Coast encompasses three counties and twelve towns. This hub is referring to the biggest tourist area for the beach which is Gulfport, Mississippi. The area was damaged by Hurricane Katrina bad in 2005 and it has been rebuilding ever since. So far so good in redoing the condos and the roads.

The beach is awesome and it is so fun to swim, surf, fish or just lay out in the sun and maybe just take in the sun. Gulfport has a tremendously wide and long pier that reaches out into the ocean rather far. Perfect for fishing. Also, the seafood restaurants are delicious with a doubt.

Marine Life Oceanarium

In 1984, The Marine Mammal Studies Institute opened to the public and it's grown in size over time. It's located in Gulfport, Mississippi and it houses marine life that needs help and veterinarian. are on location at all times. You should be shocked to see some of the marine life found in the bottom of the ocean.

The Oceanarium is a unique but, unfortunately small aquarium in Mississippi. Once you get in the park many different things besides the Oceanarium are available for entertainment such as: Train Ride, Hands On displays, tours, museum and many videos and pamphlets.

Mississippi River Cruise

Steamboat goes extremely slow across the river and you get served a huge dinner and dessert. The tour guide will tell you all about Mississippi and the river's deep past. The boat has a past too and it's very old but works like a charm.

I would definitely recommend this to all couples whether your dating, engaged or married because, it's romantic. These cruises offer food, spirits and of course the sights of the Mississippi River which is breathtaking.

Vicksburg National Military Park

The Military Park is in Vicksburg, Mississippi and it ended officially in 1906. The park is in memory of war victims and it has reconstructed war scenes such as missiles, forts and barricades. It's very realistic and it a true salute and tribute to soldiers who died for America.

My granddad was in WW2 in the Navy and my father fought in Vietnam in the Army and later joined the Navy. So I'm biased I guess but, this park is astonishing. It has an annual battle scene that is recreated and fought with real people. It will give you chills and make you appreciate what you have.

Geyser Falls Water Theme Park

Located in Choctaw, Mississippi The Geyser Falls Park has a water park, theme park and sandy white beaches all over the place. Ten water rides, roller coasters and concessions are part of the fun as well as music, concerts and two restaurants.

The Beach Club has delicious seafood and American food too! The slides are deep, tall and only for those that are not afraid of heights.

Tupelo Automobile Museum

Cars dating back to the 1860s are at this museum including a car that once belonged to Elvis Presley. The building is over 120,000 square feet and it has 152 cars on display. Also, auto parts, car memorabilia, photos and interactive displays are a part of the show.

History buffs and car buffs especially will love this place for sure. It's cheap for entry and taking pictures is allowed which is a plus.

Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum (Biloxi, MS)

The Maritime and Seafood Museum opened it's doors in 1986. Exhibits, displays and books on shrimping, fishing and how to build boats and fishing poles can be found here. Anything and everything to do with marine life can be found here in one form or another.

I really enjoyed this place because it was very educational and it had many hands on displays. Inside the museum is a Hurricane Museum which has information on all types of storms.

Mississippi Attractions

Boxing in Biloxi

Boxing is held in Biloxi indoors and outdoors. The Fitz hosts bouts all the time for ESPN and NBC. The fights have ringside tickets as well as balcony seating normally. Food and drinks are served and V.I.P. seating has tables with servers.

Boxing is so fun to watch in person as is most sports. You can see the blood and sweat fly as these guys try to win their contests. I saw ESPN 2 Friday Night Fights in Mississippi back in 2006 and Zab Judah won in the main event. It was intense and it was a blast.

Airboat Swamp Tours (Moss Pointe, Ms)

Here you hand feed alligators and hover right over them in a boat ride. It is 105 acres of exotic wildlife and your on a air boat right in the thick of it. A tour guide with vast experience controls the ride and tells the tales of the wetlands in Old Mississippi.

It is an awesome and unique experience to say the least because of the air boat and the swamps surrounded by trees and alligators. Touring the swampy wetlands is fun because the tour guide knows the area and tells stories about the wilderness.
