The Best Place in the State: Wisconsin
Dr. Evermores Sculpture Garden, located about eight miles south of Baraboo, Wisconsin, is the home of The World's Largest Sculpture. But that is just scraping the surface of this remarkable place.
Although you may be able to observe this garden in thirty minutes or less, it takes much longer to fully appreciate the true inner beauty, in this gem of a roadside attraction. To truly understand the complexity and full magnitude of this park, you need to walk around, and explore every nook and cranny. There are so many wonderful pieces that you should plan on factoring at least a good hour to get the most out of your visit.
It is hard to describe the feeling that comes over you as you walk out from behind the adjacent surplus store and enter the mythical science fiction landscape. The only thing I can relate it to is the feeling I experience when I gaze upon great art. I am not an artistic person, but famous art is famous art. It gains your respect whether you want it to or not. The same can be said of Dr. Evermores Sculpture Garden. I may not understand the whimsical artistic design behind these pieces, but they are impressive none the less. This is not a place for art freaks. This is a place for anyone with even the littlest bit of imagination. Thats the best part of this outdoor gallery. No matter your mood, you will be guaranteed to leave this place with a smile on your face. These fantastic and clever sculptures may not be named, and may not serve any identifiable purpose. But that's okay. Dr. Evermor is a genius in his own right. His scrap metal pieces are art at it's finest. An expression of feeling, emotion, and care is put into each and every one.
