The Best Vegetarian Vegan Veggie Burger Joint in San Diego, Veg-N-Out

Updated on November 28, 2010

Hey Meat Eater!

Hey meat eater, have you ever even considered trying vegetarian food?

If so Veg-N-Out in San Diego, California, is just the spot for you!  Veg-N-Out offers food with a “meaty style” but actually it is vegetarian. It is really a vegetarian burger joint!

Restaurant owner Rachael Fogg calls it a restaurant that offers a “bridge from the meat world into the veggie world.”

Are you ready to cross that bridge?

Why Veg-N-Out?

Being tired of the same old disappointing vegetarian options that many main stream restaurants offered, Rachael Fogg and her father created a place where they could prove to the average American meat eater that the vegetarian option did not have to taste bad.  The stereotypical mindset that raw and organic is bland and tasteless is broken with the creative dishes that Rachael prepares and serves in this little, out of the way vegetarian cafe, called Veg-N-Out.

Take a look at Veg-N-Out and see for yourself!

San Diego has embraced Veg-N-Out.

Just opening a little over three years ago, Veg-N-Out has gained favor with the San Diego community quite quickly. Veg-N-Out is decorated with an Asian flare, complete with bamboo and rattan walls, tiki carvings, and Chinese fans. The Chinese characters for love, happiness, peace, wisdom, tranquility, and courage fly on flags outside the restaurant.

This quaint eatery offers limited seating, so some waiting may be required. It is worth the wait, believe me. The weekends are their busiest times, and reservations for parties of four or more would be a great idea. There is a small eating area outside in a patio area off of the sidewalk, and even more limited seating inside.

Despite the cool atmosphere the real attraction is the food itself.

Veg-N-Out a meatless burger joint!

The most unique thing about Veg-N-out is that it is really a non-meat burger joint. Veg-N-Out has a varied menu offering salads, smoothies, sandwiches, and side items like sweet potato medallions, and hand dipped seasoned onion rings, but the variety of gourmet veggie burgers to choose from will knock your socks off.

With over 22 different kinds of veggie burgers on the menu, you are bound to find one you like.

Veg-N-Out Burgers are great anytime!
