Winston Churchill and Cabinet Ministers Duff Cooper and Lord Halifax stayed in this hotel at this time. To his balcony, Churchill had a wall built for added privacy which remains to this day. On teh first floor, General Dwight D. Eisenhower took a suite. Dorchester diners from this period include Edith Sitwell, Harold Nicolson, T.S. Eliot and Cyril Connolly.
