The Top State And Territory Tourist Locations:A-C

Updated on August 28, 2013

Every area has a prime tourist location. Do you know what the top tourist site is in your State or Territory?

The Frog has decided to go alphabetically through the States and Territories answering what the top tourist site is in each one. Several sources will be used. You may not agree with your area's pick. Use the comments section and tell us what you think it is.

The goal is to give people ideas on something they can do with their family or alone. If you really consider all, you really do not have to travel very far to have a great vacation.

In most circumstances, I will attempt to link the site's website. I will also search for pictures if possible.

Ok, let's see what the top tourist sites are:

So what is the top pick for the Southern State of Alabama? The Alabama Department of Tourism claims the top destination in their State is the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. For the enthusiastic golfers, Alabama is the place to go. This tourism winner consists of 11 different golf courses across Alabama with a total of 468 holes.

The map to the right shows the location of these courses on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail:

  • Cambrian Ridge at Greenville has 27 holes.
  • Capitol Hill at Prattville has 54 holes.
  • Grand National at Opelika has 36 holes.
  • Hampton Cove at Huntsville has 36 holes.
  • Highland Oaks at Dothan has 27 holes.
  • Lakewood Golf Club at Point Clear has 36 holes.
  • Magnolia Grove in Mobile has 36 holes.
  • Oxmoor Valley in Birmingham has 36 holes.
  • Ross Bridge in Hoover has 18 holes.
  • Silver Lakes in Anniston/Gadsden has 27 holes.
  • The Shoals in Muscle Shoals has 36 holes.

Make Alabama your destination for a great round of golf.

If you want to try Alaska for a vacation destination, the top destination is Glacier Bay National Park.

This National Park covers a total of 3.3 million acres. There is an education for young and old alike at Glacier Bay.

Travel to Alaska this year and spend a week or two at Glacier Bay.

American Samoa

American Samoa is in the South Pacific. If you are visiting there, you will have no trouble finding something enjoyable to do.

So what would be considered the top tourist site in this location?

The consensus goes with Manono. This is a very little, peaceful island. No cars are on this locality. You can walk the whole island at a leisurely pace in two hours. Visit the four fishing villages. Manono has many archaeological sites worth seeing.

Yep, a vacation to American Samoa would be a great idea.

For anyone who is familiar with Arizona, the top tourist destination should be quite evident.

The top choice for visitors to Arizona is the Grand Canyon National Park.

The Canyon is 277 miles long and 18 miles wide. It is as deep as 1 mile in places.

If you haven't been to the Grand Canyon, it would make a great vacation spot this year.

Arkansas has many enjoyable tourist sites. The number one site is Hot Springs National Park. This National Park surrounds the town of Hot Springs, Arkansas.

The Park has exactly what is in the name; Hot Springs flow out. Many people find that bathing in these springs will bring vitality and youthfulness.

Looking for a place in the Midwest to vacation? Hot Springs National Park may just be your best choice.

California is a difficult State to choose one top tourist site. I am really wondering if residents of California will agree with the choice.

The consensus says the the number one tourist attraction is Yosemite National Park.

Forgive me, but just mentioning the name of the park has me thinking about one of my favorite cartoons, Yogi Bear. I wonder if he ever found the picnic basket? I know that he is actually in Jellystone Park, but I always think of him when anyone mentions Yosemite.

Yosemite covers upwards of 760,000 acres. There are over 800 miles of trails. You will see many forms of wildlife, just don't feed the bears.

If California is a thought, make Yosemite National Park the first idea to consider there.

When I was younger, I lived in Denver. Colorado is another State that has many tourist attractions. It is very difficult choosing the top one.

The site that seems to get the most attention is Red Rocks Park. This park boasts a beautiful amphitheater that carries many top artists. The concerts are set in such a natural atmosphere that makes it great.

A perfect trip would be tickets to a concert at Red Rocks, and before the show, you can hike through the park.

Looking for an East coast vacation? Maybe Connecticut would be a great choice.

The top tourist site in this Eastern State is Rocky Neck State Park. It has a beach on Long Island Sound. There are hiking trails, fishing and picnic areas. It is a great spot to just get away.

Rocky Neck State Park would be a wonderful choice for a vacation plan in Connecticut.

This concludes this part in this series. Keep watching for the next hub in this series.

No matter where you go, there is surely an attraction or site to visit.

Have fun no matter where you are.

Some great ideas here. Alabama looks like the place to go for a serious golfer. I've added it to my wish list :)
