The Top State And Territory Tourist Locations: N

Updated on May 9, 2015

Every area has a prime tourist location. Do you know what the top tourist site is in your State or Territory?

The Frog has decided to go alphabetically through the States and Territories answering what the top tourist site is in each one. Several sources will be used. You may not agree with your area's pick. Use the comments section and tell us what you think it is.

You can see the first four hubs in this series at these links:

The goal is to give people ideas on something they can do with their family or alone. If you really consider all, you really do not have to travel very far to have a great vacation.

In most circumstances, I will attempt to link the site's website. I will also search for pictures if possible.

Ok, let's see what the top tourist sites are:

This is a State I lived in for a number of years. There is not a wide variety of tourist sites in Nebraska, but there are some.

The top tourist destination in Nebraska is the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha. This zoo is probably the best zoo in the whole United States.

There are tram rides, a rain forest and an underground aquarium.

Make a trip to the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo. You will be glad you did.

Can anyone make a good guess as to the top tourist destination is in Nevada?

C'mon, don't think too hard.

It is the Las Vegas Strip

When you drive down the strip in the night, it feels like it is still daytime. The lights from billboards and casinos are immense. The Las Vegas Strip is its own little world.

Like they say, "What happens in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas.".

New Hampshire

Where should we go in New Hampshire? The top site for tourists in this Eastern State is Mount Monadnock. This mountain rises out of the New Hampshire flat-lands and is majestic.

You can camp, walk the many trails and just enjoy the beautiful New Hampshire nature.

For the snow skiers, this is a great skiing mountain in the winter months.

Yes, for a New Hampshire vacation, Mount Monadnock is a great choice.

New Jersey

Many people only think of Atlantic City when you mention New Jersey. Believe it or not, that is not the top tourist destination in this State.

Visitors have found Cape May to be a favorite destination in New Jersey. Sitting on the coastline, this old city has many Victorian structures that will give you the sense you have went back in time.

Looking to vacation in New Jersey? Try Cape May.

New Mexico

Heading to the Southwest, we come to New Mexico. New Mexico has many opportunities for tourists, but the #1 site that people flock to is Carlsbad Caverns.

Above ground, there is park space and cactus. Below ground are over 118 different caves and caverns. You can do a walk through tour on your own, or you can get a ranger guided tour.

Are you a fan of caving? Some of these tours will have you crawling through tight crevices and entering a huge cave on the other side.

Stay towards sunset and watch the flights of bats leaving the caves to gather their food.

Carlsbad Caverns is a perfect choice for your next family vacation.

New York

There are many sites a person can consider when thinking of New York for a vacation. The top pick for most tourists is not in New York City, it is upstate.

The #1 site is Niagra Falls

You can see these falls on both the New York side and the Canada side. Most people pick the New York side as there is more of Mother Nature involved there.

If you are trying to pick a place in New York for a vacation, Niagra Falls would make an excellent choice.

Biltmore Estate:

North Carolina

North Carolina has many opportunities for visitors to this beautiful State. The top pick may surprise many.

Head to Asheville, North Carolina to the Biltmore Estate. It is an 8,000 acre estate built by George Vanderbilt. There is shopping, wine tasting, many outdoor activities and a whole lot more.

Just looking at the architecture and scenery will put you in awe.

Follow the map to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina and have a great vacation.

North Dakota

Probably not the State you would want to vacation in during winter months, but for those summer tourists traveling to North Dakota, the top place to see is the Fort Mandan Overlook. This beautiful site overlooks the area where Lewis and Clark made their headquarters.

Many relics have been found in this area including arrowheads, pottery and other Native American items.

You will feel like you are in the original old west when you visit the Fort Mandan Overlook.

Northern Marianas Islands

This group of fifteen islands lays in the Pacific Ocean and they are a commonwealth of the United States.

Of course, they are all a treasure to visit, and a vacation there would be a treat.

So what is the best thing to do there?

Get your diving gear and go to the island of Saipan. The Grotto is the place. Dive down and see the amazing coral, sharks and other ocean creatures you will not see anywhere else.

Watch the following video and see why you would greatly enjoy this adventure.

I hope you enjoyed this segment with the N's in this ongoing series.

Stay tuned for the next installment coming soon.

Have a great day.

I've only been to four of these...chances are slim I'll visit the Islands, but I should be able to make it to New Jersey and North Carolina in this lifetime. :) Have a great weekend Greg, and blessings to you both.
