Modesto, meaning “Modest” in Spanish, was founded on November 8, 1870. The city of Modesto, California has an estimated population of 201,165 (according to the 2010 US Census). This makes it the 18th most populous city in California and the most populous in Stanislaus County. Owing to the rich farmlands in the surrounding areas, Modesto has been a center of agriculture. Modesto offers a variety of attractions and activities to both tourists and locals alike. Here are the top 5 things to do in Modesto, California.

1. Gallo Center for the Arts
The Gallo Center for the Arts is one of the favorite places amongst the locals. It was opened in September 2007 and has played host to various performances in the fields of drama, music and dance. The Gallo Center comprises of the Mary Stuart Rogers Theater and the Foster Family Theater, which can accommodate 1251 and 440 visitors, respectively. The Center is appreciated for its well-laid out design and acoustics, which bring to life any piece of music.

2. John Thurman Field
Home to the Modesto Nuts baseball team, the John Thurman Field is a baseball stadium. It was opened on April 15, 1955 and is managed by the city of Modesto. Named in the honor of the California State assemblyman John Thurman, the spacious stadium has a seating capacity of 4,000. It plays hosts to concerts as well. A trip with friends or family will make the visit to John Thurman Field a memorable one.

3. Concetta
The Concetta is a tapas restaurant famous in the Central Valley. Food preparations at Concetta are presided over by Chef Domonique. Concetta is the place to be with friends and family for a delicious and sumptuous meal, coupled up with the exquisite wine that is served. For anyone who loves swimming, the Aquatic Dreams Scuba Center is a definite must visit attraction when traveling to Modesto.

      Undenialably it IS informative of things to do which is what you titled your hub. Alas, I would be unable or uninterested to do those Top 5 Things! There is one big flaw to this hub, you didn't say where Modesto is in CA. I have been there and know it's not a small state! Is it close to another major city like LA, or San Fran that people could visit and add into their trip. Coming from the UK I would want to stay a while so would travel to nearby places.
