The city of Vigo, Spain has an estimated population of about 297,332 residents (according to the 2010 Spain Census). This makes it the 14th most populated city in Spain. Vigo offers a variety of attractions and activities to both tourists and locals alike. Here are the top 5 things to do in Vigo, Spain:


1. Cies Island
Cies Islands consists of a group of islands. Because of their enormous natural significance, the islands were declared as a Nature Reserve in 1980 and were given the status of National Park in 2002. Reaching the islands from Vigo port is very easy. The islands provide great views of the ocean. There are camping areas as well; however, permission needs to be secured in order to camp there. A supermarket, a tourist center and a restaurant are there to provide a comfortable outing to the tourists opting to visit the islands. There is a large range of flora and fauna present at the island. The beaches are beautiful, clean, and are spread over long distances. Cies Island is a definite must-see for any traveler to Vigo, Spain.


2. Playa del Vao
Playa del Vao is one of the most beautiful beaches in Spain. The sand and the water at the beach are extremely attractive. The dunes at the beach have been protected well and they give the beach a very unique appearance. The beach provides an opportunity to get engaged in activities like boating, wind surfing, sailing and more. The views of the sea and the island of Torolla are simply stunning.


3. Pazo Quinones de Leon
Pazo Quinones de Leon is the manor house that offers a lot of information regarding the history of the Vigo. It appeals to the people of all ages equally. The garden has been maintained wonderfully well and has a number of botanical specimens. The architecture and the interior decoration of the building are immensely attractive.

4. Parquet Monte del Castro
Parquet Monte del Castro is surrounded by great scenic beauty. The park has lots of space to enjoy walking at. There are a number of photogenic spots at the park. For those looking to enjoy the nature that the city of Vigo has to offer, the Parquet Monte del Castro is the place for you.


5. Castro Fortress
Castro Fortress was constructed as early as 1665. The purpose for its creation was to provide protection to the city from the British Navy. It formed the part of the strong defensive system of the city along with the San Sebastian Fortress and the City Wall. The historical significance of the fortress makes it one of the most famous tourist spots in the area.

      Cies Islands might be my favorite place to visit "because of their enormous natural significance." I love the beach but its so crowded. Thanks for giving me this view of Vigo through your eyes. Voted Up.
