Dubai is a great place to live. If you are thinking of moving to Dubai, I am sure that you will want to know all about Dubai and what it has to offer regarding everyday living.

I have lived in Dubai for many years now, and I hope this information will help you in taking the decision of whether to make the move or not.

Here are facts about Dubai that you may want to know -

Airport in Dubai

The airport in Dubai is built with grandeur and style. It is beautifully constructed and is a pleasure to go through the Dubai airport.

Dubai airport is well connected, and you will not have any trouble travelling to the destination of your choice. There are budget airlines that you can avail of at reasonable prices.

There are Duty-Free Shops in the airport where you can spend your time shopping while you wait for your flight to depart. There are comfortable seating places and restrooms. The staff are very helpful and bail you out of difficult situations. So far my experiences have been great, as they say so far so good.

Travelling in Dubai

Travelling in Dubai is not a problem at all. Once you get off at the airport, there are cabs waiting in line to take you to your destination. If you do not want to take the taxi, then there is the option of taking the metro right from the airport.

For commuting within Dubai, you have the choice of taking the metro, tram or taxis. The meter rates for taxis are fixed, and you need not worry about being cheated. Call taxis come promptly on time and are safe to use.

In summer, it is best to avoid walking even to nearby places. It is blistering hot, so it is best you avoid going out in the sun. During winter, the weather is pleasant, and you can see people taking a walk or running in the parks.

Shopping in Dubai

You need not worry whether you will get the things that you used to buy back home in Dubai. Shops in Dubai will mostly have whatever you want. It is very rare not to find a particular item in Dubai.

Grocery shops have all the vegetables, fruits, condiments, herbs or just about any special ingredient that you want for cooking.

It is a shoppers paradise here. You have high-end designer shops and shops where you can get things at affordable prices. Dubai is a haven for people who love electronic gadgets. You will find the latest greatest here in Dubai.

There is always some sale or the other going on with great discounts. Added to this, there are shopping festivals. During shopping festivals, you can get huge discounts on all items. People come from across the world to shop during these festivals.

Schools in Dubai

You will have no problems in finding the right school for your child in Dubai. Schools in Dubai offer various curriculums that you can choose from.

Schools in Dubai offer -

  • IGCSE
  • IB
  • Indian Curriculum
  • American Curriculum
  • British Curriculum
  • French Curriculum
  • Australian Curriculum

All schools are air conditioned.

Weather in Dubai

The weather in Dubai is pretty hot. Everything is air-conditioned out here. The malls, the bus stops, tram stations, metro stations are all air conditioned.

Dubai is hot, and the humidity level is high. In the summer months from June to September temperatures soar. Temperatures hit 40 degrees Centrigrade and sometimes a bit more. It gets very uncomfortable due to the high levels of humidity.

People who do not have a problem with living in an air conditioned environment 24 by 7will love Dubai. People with asthma or any breathing problem will find it difficult to stay here.

The period between December and March is very pleasant. During these times, you can stay at home without switching on the air condition. During the period between December and March is when you can expect very little rain.

When you go out in Dubai, remember to wear sunscreen because the sun's rays are harsh and can affect your skin. Carry a water bottle with you wherever you go especially in summer months. Keep yourself well hydrated and protect yourself by applying sunscreen, wearing a hat or by carrying an umbrella.

Remember you can get dehydrated even in an air conditioned atmosphere.

The cost of living in Dubai is very high. There are good schools, day care centers, hospitals, clinics, restaurants and play centers for children. There are many parks that you can go to during winter and enjoy.

If you are okay with the hot weather and the air condition, then Dubai is the best place to live. You will find people from all over the world living in peace and harmony in Dubai.

What a wonderful hub Vellur! I would love to visit Dubai, its amazing! The heat may be a bit too much for me though as I do have Asthma, but it would be lovely to visit in your winter, wonderful!

Dubai sounds like a wonderful place but a little too hot for me. I love to be outside every minute I can taking pictures or sightseeing and I couldn't take more than a few minutes at a time i am sure. We have place in America I love that are really hot too but they cool down in winter season and I visit them then or early spring when flowers sprout but not yet hot.

It is good we all have different likes though isn't it? Or else we would all be in one place and tilt the earth!
