Things to Do in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on a Budget
Hit the Beach!
If you're visiting Myrtle Beach you may as well break in that swimsuit and hit the beach! Myrtle Beach has miles and miles of gorgeous coastline with beautiful beaches and oceanfront attractions.
If you're not into big crowds you may want to check out Myrtle Beach State Park. Admission into Myrtle Beach State Park is $5.00. The beaches in the state park are typically less crowded and there is also more parking in comparison to the popular beaches near the Boardwalk.
You may also want to take a short drive to check out some of the surrounding beaches in the Myrtle Beach area. Surfside Beach and Garden City Beach are just a short drive from Myrtle Beach and they are just as beautiful as the beaches near the Boardwalk. If you do decide to take the short drive to Surfside or Garden City Beaches be sure to take a cruise down Ocean Boulevard so that you can enjoy all the bright colored beach houses along the coast with fun names like Hakuna Matata and Just Peachy. It's a fun and free sightseeing adventure that the whole family will enjoy!
Check Out the Piers!
There are quite a few piers along Myrtle Beach and the surrounding beaches and each pier offers it's own unique experience. Most of the piers along Myrtle Beach are free of charge, however there are some that charge $1.00-2.00 for admission onto the pier.
You can fish off the piers, fees for that can vary from one pier to the next, so call ahead or ask the gift shop attendant if you're interested in the fees for fishing off the pier.
The piers are a great place to see sharks too! When people fish off of the pier it tends to attract sharks which can be seen from the pier. Be sure to keep your eyes on the water if you venture out onto the pier, you might just spot a shark lurking beneath the waves!
The piers are also great for family photo opportunities! You're sure to find a few friendly locals or fellow tourists who would be more than willing to snap some family photos with the ocean as your backdrop!
