Things to do in Alicante, Spain (TOP 5 LIST)

The city of Alicante, Spain has an estimated population of about 334,757 residents (according to the 2010 Spain Census). This makes it the 11th most populated city in Spain. Alicante offers a variety of attractions and activities to both tourists and locals alike. Here are the top 5 things to do in Alicante, Spain:

1. Guadalest Valley
Guadalest Valley provides a great chance to witness breathtaking views and a truly interesting and unique village. The village is located on a high mountain. The views that could be seen from here are terrific. The options for food and shopping available here are also very unique and interesting, all captivating the essence of Spanish cuisine. There are some very nice museums as well in the vicinity. Although the town is not highly populated, the uniqueness of Guadalest Valley is why it is one my top 5 list.

2. Rancho La Ofra
Rancho La Ofra offers a great experience of horseback riding. Rancho La Ofra organizes guided tours and lessons for people of all ages and all skill levels. The horses are well trained and well behaved. Beginners are provided with training. The ride goes up and down the hill presenting great views of farms, forests, mountains and more. The guides are very friendly and eager to help. They make the experience absolutely safe and memorable for you.

3. MARQ Provincial Archaeological Museum
MARQ Provincial Archaeological Museum displays a lot of information about the history of Alicante. The site used to be a hospital and has been remodeled into a modern museum. The exhibits have been laid out very nicely and track the history of the city from ancient times to the present. The archaeological findings, digital panorama and videos present at the museum create a very clear picture of the history of the area. The price for entry is very reasonable.

4. Castle of Santa Barbara
From Castle of Santa Barbara, you get great views of the city, sea and mountains. The castle also is very appealing. You get an option to walk or take the lift to reach the top of the castle. However, walking to the top is preferable since it presents better views. The history of the castle also has been documented. Tourists and travelers have the option of buying souvenirs from the very nice gift shop located there.

5. Guardamar Beach
Guardamar Beach is a very beautiful beach that could be enjoyed in many different ways. You can find some people at the beach who are engaged in activities like beach volleyball, jogging, etc. But you can also find some very quiet corners if you wish to enjoy quietness. There are some very nice bars and eateries as well to make your outing to the beach more enjoyable and comfortable. The beach gets very busy during summers. A visit to Guardamar Beach is a must for any traveler to Alicante.
