Western Bali Introduction

Mostly, first time visitors focus on southern and central area of the island. It is a normal thing while I did it to. If there is a second chance or maybe you have longer period in Bali, western side is the area where you must try for your holiday in this magical island.

Menjangan Island, Perancak, Pemuteran and Banyupoh are the ideal places for beach and dive enthusiasts. Culture hunters can achieve a new experience in Ekasari and Delod Berawah. Dauhwaru and Candikusuma will inspire tourists who love culinary travel. The primary place that you must visit in Western Bali is Sumberkelampok, where it leads you to National Park and famous folklore story. How about healthy travel? There is hot-spring in Pejarakan

Which area that you want to explore? This article shows all the potential of Western Bali. So keep your eyes on to this article!

West Bali National Park is a main attraction in Sumberkelampok Village. This national park offers variety lodgings and public facilities, such like guest houses, hotels, speed boat, and many others. The main player is Jalak Bali, which is one of endanger creatures. There are also many animals in this national park. In addition, Jalak Bali is not the only one. Animals’ sightseeing is not the only thing that you can do in this village. If you prefer to explore underwater creatures around the area, you can rent dive operators service on site.

Access is very easy to get to Bali National Park, which stands at Gilimanuk – Singaraja and Gilimanuk Negara roadway. Your distance is about 100 – 120 miles length from Denpasar. It takes more energy and time. Take it easy and do not worry about it, while you can use charter services in Denpasar. You can enjoy the journey and you will love it!

To those who love drama story, there is a place that you can visit in Sumberkelampok Village. It is Jaya Prana Cemetery. Time is not enough to tell the story in this article. A light for you, it sounds like Romeo and Juliet melodrama. After visiting the cemetery, you can enjoy the panorama around the area. Yes, it is the time for photography junkies!

Menjangan Island

Menjangan Island is coral island that sets at North Western of Bali Mainland. No doubt, this island is a heaven for diving junkies and underwater photographers. As a part of Bali National Park, it is the area where government and local get involve protecting the environment. It means the condition is calm and clear. The water also provides great visibility.

There are two levels area for diver at Menjangan Island. First level is around Garden Eel, base 1 and base 2. Beautiful wall diving, blue-toothed, Titan, Longfin Bannerfish and sometime big turtle are some highlights at this spot. Do not forget, Garden Eel is a prime star in here. The second level is Anchor Wreck, as people call it. To a depth 35 meters, there is wooden ship debris that used to transfer the helots. Under this circumstance, you can discover sharks sometimes.

You will need three until four hours to get here, if you start the journey from Sanur and Kuta. My personal opinion to old visitor, skip southern part and stay at Lovina Area. For fresh visitor who usually bases on southern area, prepare yourself for long journey if you insist to dive at Menjangan Island.

Located at northwestern island, Pejarakan is a village that offers many attractions to tourists. Banyuwedan Hotspring is a main reason to visit this village. Tour operators use this village as starting point to cross to Menjangan Island.

Pejarakan Village is also a good example for culture tourism. Solidarity reflects life in this village, when it has started a long time ago. Most people do agriculture activity in Pejarakan, while the other depends on diving or snorkeling business. Here, salt production is a prime sector. Maybe, Pejarakan is the only village that produces salt in Bali.

How to get here? Simple and easy! If you ride from Gilimanuk Station take a red car or Bus to Singaraja. You only need 35 – 45 minutes from Gilimanuk to Pejarakan generally. For the worst, prepare yourself in one hour. The second possibility is Banyusari Station in Singaraja. In this matter, you come from east side. The car or bus type is still same as the first way. The different is that you must find transportation to Gilimanuk.

The name of the village is the same as the Hindu Temple. It is Purancak Temple, which sets on Bali around 1546. The temple is the icon of the village that makes you easy to find it.

If you are not down into culture tourism, you can visit the beach in this village. Perancak Beach is not crowd as the other beaches in Bali, such like Dreamland, Sanur and Kuta. If you love photography, you have an opportunity to capture a beautiful moment at sunset. Each year, Perancak holds traditional rowing boat race to celebrate the anniversary Negara.

There is also Sea Turtle Preservation in this village. It is the "Kurma Kasih". The simple reason why the conservation in this beach area because the beach is a perfect place for sea turtles breeding. Besides, tourists can enjoy the beauty of the beach and do release turtle kids to the sea.

Beach is your main target in Pemuteran Village. Set on low-land area, this beach stretches to four miles along with hills and vegetation at background. To all scuba diving junkies, underwater activity is a must do around the area. For notice, SKAL awarded the area as the best diving site in November 2003. Located around five until six miles from beach area, Pulaki and Melanting Temples are your second destination.

Administratively, Pemuteran Village is a part of Gerokgak Sub-regency and Buleleng District. You need hard passion to visit this village. Furthermore, it is not an easy job to get here while you need a few hours on your journey. However, tour guide service is the best option for your convenience. At the opposite, you can do solo adventure to visit this village. Your choice!

Most people know Bali is a destination for water sport activities such like diving and surfing. Do you know that you can pump your adrenaline through off-road activity in Bali? If you have not known where to do this kind of sport, Ekasari Village is one of the best areas on Bali Island.

Benel Dam area is exactly the right spot to do off-road activity. Around the area, you can fulfill your passion and test your skill to handle the challenges. However, it is much better that you already have insurance protection. Nobody can predict the future, right?

If you do not interest into off-road activity, enjoying the panorama around the area with renting boat is worth to do. To landscape photographers, do not forget to carry your favorite camera. Maybe you can put the panorama around the dam as one of your portfolios.

There is a beautiful and quiet beach at Western Bali. It is Gondol Beach, which is a part of Banyupoh Village. The good news for you, the beach is still not crowd at southern areas. If you want to escape from hassle atmosphere, this area is one of great suggestions for you.

Around 25 miles from Western Lovina, tourists can experience culture and religious tourism to Pulaki Temple, which is also one of Dura Kahyangan Temples in Bali.

Banyupoh is a village where it sets at western coast of the island. The journey is about 35 miles from Western Singaraja or 20 miles from Gilimanuk.

Delod Berawah

Delod Berawah stands in sub-district of Mendoyo, which is about 57 miles from Denpasar and one mile from Tegalcangkring.

In this village there is an ideal location for recreation and swimming. The name of the beach is Delod Berawah Beach. It is a sloping and black sandy beach, where the color comes from a natural process.

Here, on the north side of Delod Berawah, tourists have a chance to watch traditional water buffalo race. Besides, it is an annual event. In local language, it is “Makepung”. If you have a big passion into tourism culture, this village is a good idea.

Holiday without trying local cuisine is absolutely a big mistake. Warung Krishna, which operates in Dauhwaru Village, is your destination to reload your energy.

I Gusti Ngeruh Sentosa have operated this restaurant since year 2010. For the menus, western foods are also available along with local foods in this restaurant. The restaurant opens from 10 AM – 23 PM every day. For foods guide, try to order Ikan Goreng Asam Manis or Ayam Goreng Asam Manis as your main foods. It is not enough! You must try Watermelon Juice to complete your days. Besides tasty foods, the environment is another credit to this restaurant.

For location, it sets on Jenderal Sudirman Road, Dauhwaru Village, Negara Sub-district, Jembrana District

Fishing and food hunting are two main activities that you can do in Candikusuma Village. It rests between Melaya Sub-district and Jembrana District. The journey covers eight miles if you start from Negara. Using tour guide service is absolutely a brilliant idea, especially to first-timer tourist in Bali.

For foodies, you can hang out at Warung Lesehan Ikan Bakar Padasuka. This restaurant is a great place to release your stress and refill the energy after exploration. The nice thing is that you can pick the fresh fish in here. At the opposite, the price is higher for foreign tourist than local tourist. So, prepare yourself with this issue. If you have a problem with it, you can skip this place.

You can also do fishing activity around beach area. Most of it sets at boat pier areas. Late afternoon is the best time to fishing, when sunlight softer. Did I mention that late afternoon is also a good time for photography?

In this article, all the destinations are the only small parts of Western Bali. I hope you can find more when you are already here. However, I am so happy because I have made people to realize that Bali has a lot potential for tourists. Do you still think that Bali is only a place for bikini party or Bintang Beer?
