Top 5 Things to Do in Dorset:
The Priory Church of Christchurch
If you've watched the recent HBO mini-series, 'The Pillars of the Earth', then you're probably curious on what Priory churches look like. One of the coolest places to visit in Dorset, as well as one of the best things to do in Dorset, is to visit the Priory Church of Christchurch.
It's many different things: it's a museum, a monument to the poet and Shelley and has a great view point in the West Tower of the church. It's a great way to spend an afternoon in Dorset - you'll get a nice view of the countryside while learning some interesting history of the region.
Adventure Wonderland in Dorset
This is one of my favorite places to visit in Dorset; it is also for sure one of the best things to do while travelling to Dorset. Why? Because it's fun, something entire family can participate in, and one of few cheap things to do in Dorset, England.
When visiting the Adventure wonderland, you'll get:
- A Alice in Wonderland Themed Amusement Park.
- A large maze to explore.
- Toddler activities.
- Characters from Alice and Wonderland.
Dinosaur Fossil Museum
Like I mentioned earlier Dorset resides on very old, old ground. Aside from the fact their are many pre-human settlement, there are also many Dinosaur fossils in Dorset; this makes the next top attraction and things to do in Dorset that much better.
The Dinosaurland Fossil Museum in Dorset is great for the entire family (and is cheap for everyone too!). There are many amazing fossils to explore, from local Jurassic marine fossils, to many of the 'bigger' and 'cooler' fossils.
My favorite aspect of this museum in Dorset? The time gallery which shows you how much the topography of Dorset has changed over thousands of years.
Tree Swinging in Dorset
As far as fun things to do in Dorset this is right up near the top.
Just imagine this:
You're 35 feet in the air, swinging from tree to tree, going through various checkpoints and obstacles, all the while learning something about the environment.
Go Ape, in Dorset, offers just that.
Best Restaurant To Eat At In Dorset
One of the best things to do in Dorset is also one of the best places to eat in Dorset. The Bowlplex offers everything anyone can ask for in a relaxing afternoon (after swinging from trees, or looking at fossils, of course).
