Or paddle around the lake to explore its rocky backdrop. With the onset of winter, from December to May, the lake freezes and becomes a skiing resort.

Moab is a mecca for mountain bikers. It is the red-rock city of the Colorado Plateau, in the western USA. Moab is one of the best places to experience the elemental beauty of earth. In the Arches National park you can see more than two thousand natural rock ridges, sculpted by wind, water and time for millions of years.

The Canyonlands National Park is the largest and the least developed national park, where you can explore the Anasazi ruins, rock arts, cliffs and spires. An airplane tour of one hour is the best way to enjoy the beauty of this raw backcountry. These parks have numerous biking trails.

The Monitor and Merrimack Trail is a 21.5 km loop for beginners to explore the delicate sandstone towers, whereas the White Rim Road runs for 160 km in the Canyonlands national park is a tough challenge for the hardcore bikers. As Moab is a desert area the temperature is mild and comfortable in spring and fall.

Fayetteville is the epicenter of adventure sports. This small town is located in the heart of New River Gorge, is popular among climber, hikers and paddlers. Catch the sun early in the morning by walking 2 miles from the parking lot to the Long point. It is the best moment with nature in the West Virginia. After the sunrise, grab your breakfast at the Cathedral Cafe of coffee and sweet potato pancakes.

Then you can plan a hike or ride a bike to refresh your childhood memories or try some adventure on the river. If you are here in the fall, then go for white river rafting on the rapids of Gauley river, a tributary of New River Gorge. There are professionals available at the Summersville Dam, who will guide you and take you down the river. For six weeks starting from September, the dam releases water, making the Upper Gauley into a churning mass of water.

There are 150 rapid in a stretch of 45 Km from Upper Gauley and Lower Gauley. These rapids range from medium to high on the difficulty scale. And finally, end the day with a dinner at Pies and Pints.

The Sky walk is a two to four hours of walk on the six different suspension bridges at Monteverde, a small town in Putarenas and the boardwalk at the Cinco Ceibas, a mile long wooden boardwalk which offers an interesting perspective of the rainforest basin.

Most of the visitors prefer to visit the rainforests in the dry season, mid-December to April, but during the wet season, May to November, the prices are at their lowest, with a short pause of showers in June and July the forest bursts with green foliage.
