Halloween Haunts

1. Dream Reapers (Chicago, Illinois): The smell was rather gross but, a part of the haunted house. A man with a chainsaw chasing you is one of the highlights along with a man in a wheelchair. Hearing the screams from the small child at the slaughter house is also chilling. The elevator takes you to the thirteenth floor which is the scariest part. The floors look like they ooze with blood. You have to keep reminding yourself that this is not real.

2. The Asylum (Denver, Colorado): In The Asylum, you will get scared. You go down two floors in the elevator and get off the elevators on the floor that houses the mentally insane. You will encounter screams of the tortured souls, and be chased by the undead and not to mention the rats, snakes and spiders that hang out here. It is like The Asylum plays on your worst nightmares, as well as your biggest fears. This is one haunted house you will never forget, you may even have nightmares. It just seems too real.

3. The Beast (Kansas City, Missouri): This haunted house is unique because when you get to the top of the fourth floor you must slide down the four stories in a black hole slide until you get to the bottom. At which point you must make your way through the forest with howling and yellow eyes watching you in the dark as you exit the attraction. The sound effects at this place are very frightening from start to finish. The slide makes this haunted house very different from the other haunted houses.

4. Haunted Hotel (San Diego, California): The haunted hotel features the characters Freddie Krueger, Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Jason Voorhees. Two aspects of this haunted hotel that are down right scary are; The Hellevator: which brings you face to face with ghouls. The second aspect of this haunted attraction is the sound effects. They will keep you looking over your shoulder and believe me there are frights at every turn coming from above you and below you.

5. Cutting Edge (Fort Worth, Texas): This haunted house has the distinction of being in the Guinness Book of World Records for the being the largest haunted house in the entire world. Believe it or not, this house is an old meat packing plant and the fears stretch to 235,000 square feet. Just the fact that it was an old meat packing plant is scary enough. This makes me think of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I do not personally think that I could go through this one.

6. Atrox Factory (Leeds, Alabama): This old factory houses a 40,000 square foot haunted attraction. It is known for being the largest indoor haunted attraction in the south. This haunted house is unique because it releases creepy smells so, that all of your senses of fear are activated. This haunted house is known to have many different creatures and plots throughout. You can never really know what awaits you. The other thing is that all of your senses are engaged and not knowing where the creepiness is coming from next whether it be the floor, or the ceiling.

7. Netherworld (Norcross, Georgia): This ride began in 1997 and is more spooky because this is a self-guided haunted house. This house features a 3D horror show and it's also famous for its medieval torture chamber that is in use during your walk through. One thing unique about this haunted house is they develop their own never seen before creatures but, they also have classic creatures as well such as gargoyles and vampires.

8. Blackout Haunted House (New York, New York): This haunted house, features a lot of acting and special effects including, a torture room, a fog room, scary music and constant whispering and moaning noises. Blackout separates itself from the horror pack by putting you in a horror movie. You feel as though you are in a scary film rather than a haunted house.

9. The Boneyard Haunted House (Riverview, Florida): This is the only haunt on this list to be rated PG-13. Having said that, the special effects, sound effects and paranormal activity will still make your hair stand up. This is a unique haunted house because the props are made from using wood and other expensive materials. There are life size tomb stones, statues, skeletons and zombies that are uniquely handcrafted from wood as you walk through the Boneyard.

10. Spooky Woods (High Point, North Carolina): Spooky Woods features fog, screaming, explosions and look out for the zip lines ghosts because they are coming straight at you from the sky. Unlike other haunted attractions, this one has an area all for kids including a maize game and a laser tag game. To finish this ride you must go through several zip lines and skytowers to finish this ride.

Do you believe?

Places that are haunted by spirits are places that I choose to avoid. Some people choose to do "hunts" at night. They actually take very high tech equipment and try to capture images, sounds and heat/cold. Sometimes it looks more real than others. I do enjoy watching the findings and seeing how different people react.

Loved this hub! The one with the yellow eyes sounds extremely creepy. I wrote a hub similar to this and some of these I have never heard of. Great job! Voted up
