Lost River Cave Introduction

Lost River Cave located in Bowling Green, Kentucky is not only full of beauty but sites and activities for the entire family. This less known tourist locale offers a short underground boat ride, educational programs for the entire family, walking trails and more. Lost River Cave is a perfect stop fro a family trip and is nestled in Bowling Green, Kentucky, home of Western Kentucky University.

Lost River Cave Offers Learning that is Fun

There are so many wonderfully fun and educational activities for children of all ages. Adults can take part in the many things offered as well. Lost River Cave family fun includes the under ground cave tour exploring the water in the cave while learning about the history of the area.

The seasonal butterfly habitat offers the family and enclosed garden with butterflies everywhere, some landing on you as you stand and watch the fluttering beauties. A cave crawl is offered for children and is frequently used by birthday groups and scouting groups but all groups are welcomed to explore the cave and delve deeper. The nature trails were one of the most beautiful sites my family and I were able to see while visiting Lost River Cave. They included about two miles and were feet-friendly and filled with natural beauty.

If you are the type of parent who likes to pack educational opportunities for your children where every you go, this is certainly a tourist site to include. Children can explore nature using the outdoor classroom; they can mine for minerals and identify their finds, create natural art, explore the garden, learn in the theater and relax afterward for a picnic with the family.

Learning at Lost River Cave is not just for Kids

Family events and classes are held periodically. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly able to teach a wide variety of subject matter. Our family attended a camp weekend and learned how to make fire by friction, how to make delicious recipes with campfire cooking, watched instructors teach beginners how to properly put up a tent and had fun and games for all in the evenings. If you want to learn a skill related to the outdoors, try to visit Lost River Cave during one of their camping events.
