Travel To Connecticut

Updated on February 11, 2012

Mystic Region & More !

Travel to Connecticut is like a warm comfortable blanket. You’ll find lovely rolling hills, calm valleys, thick forests and an abundance of rivers and lakes as well as miles of shoreline. What is interesting about Connecticut is that you have the ability to be in city or country, mountains or near water all in the same day. Although it is the third smallest state, what it lacks for in size it makes up for in character. Connecticut is situated in Southern New England region of the USA. Many visitors to this state fly into Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks. From there the most practical way for one to travel is by rental car, and you can easily get one at the airport. From there, this small but inviting state is here for you to discover.

Some day trips or half day trips to consider can be; Travel to the New Hartford area. This is on the northwestern side of the state. Attractions include state forests, lakes and rivers, wonderful scenery and fishing-as well as snow skiing in the winter. If your in Hartford, which is the state capitol, make a point to spend time at the Science Center, The Wadsworth Atheneum or visit the Mark Twain House. If you are in the mid part of the state you might enjoy visiting Gillette Castle and a wonderful time for both young and old is the Essex Steam Train and Riverboat ride. In New Haven you might enjoy the Art Gallery at Yale University or the Peabody Museum. Another major attraction is the southeast corner of the state, highlights include; Mystic Seaport, the Mystic Aquarium, Ocean Beach State Park and Harkness State Park. Also consider visiting the USS Nautilus Memorial in Groton. The village of Mystic is close by and it has that old New England feel to it and there are many fine restaurants there that both kids and adults will enjoy.

Being in-between New York City and Boston there also is a wide variety of live entertainment that passes thru the area . You might want to included a concert or show into your plans while here at venues such as the Oakdale Theater, The XL Center, The Meadows Music Center or Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Also-if you plan to travel to some areas in Massachusetts, Vermont or New Hampshire, flying into Connecticut is practical as it is only a short car ride to those areas. If I had to pick the best time of year to visit-I’d say from April thru October is the most enjoyable weatherwise and I do hope you ENJOY
