True Wisconsin Werewolf Story!

Updated on July 16, 2010

Egyptian Anubis, this is exactly the kind of creature I saw!

Marshes are known for paranormal activity.

The Horicon Marsh is a mystical place where paranormal activity is common place.

A True Account Of A Supernatural Being

Many people do not believe in the paranormal unless they have an encounter with it themselves. I have to admit, I would not believe in strange stuff either, but over the years I have experienced the paranormal, the strange and the bizarre first hand.

The following account really happened to me! I believe I saw something that could only be a werewolf or an Egyptian Anubis, a demon with the body of a man with the head of a wolf.

The year was 1985. The place is Wisconsin, where many reports of werewolves and dogmen have been reported.

That summer was the first time I had ever fallen in love, and it was like magic to me. Never did I think I could feel like this. And, thankfully the feeling was returned. It was a time that I still remember with great fondness. If things had not ended so tragically, I am sure I would still be with this person today, and my life would be better for it. I never felt such intense love, longing and sexual attraction with anyone else since.

My boyfriend and I had been together that entire summer day and evening, ending up at a local tavern not far from my home. There we had a Friday night fish fry, and spent the hours looking into each other eyes, as only people newly in love can do. We sipped soda and a few beers between us over the evening, as neither one of us were into drinking.

Not wanting to end the night, after the bar closed at 2 am we got a pizza and decided to go to a local lovers lane to eat and talk some more, and yes, to just be together. We parked overlooking the Horicon Marsh. We could see the shape of the ancient Indian burial mounds that dotted the landscape. The moon was full and glistening in the waters of the marsh. The entire landscape was alight, and I think even then had a paranormal glow about it.I remember how well I could see everything, hear everything, way beyond human ability, although at the time, I was so preoccupied with my boyfriend, that I took little notice of these things.

A chorus of frogs and crickets filled the night. I could smell the scent of ripening sweet corn mingled with the pungent odor of the marsh. It was truly a beautiful summer’s eve. We remarked on the great beauty of the place and how lucky we were to have been born and raised in the area.

The music was low on the radio, we ate our pizza and talked again of future plans. We talked of the Indian mounds and the people who once lived in this area. We finished eating and I was cuddled next to my friend, content just to be near him, when I suddenly felt all the hair on my arm stand on end. Next the side of my face and neck felt as if it was being picked with pins. For some unknown reason I felt extreme fear.

My friend must have felt the same fear, I felt him clench me closer to him. I think we both saw it at the same time. From the marshy area, where the moon caressed the water, we saw what looked like a large hairy man, walking upright. He was very big, with wide shoulders and a narrow waist. His arms were longer than a human. When he turned his head, we saw that it looked like that of a dog or wolf, and he seemed to be sniffing the air.

Total fear gripped me, I could not move, could not even utter a sound. Never since or then have I ever felt such heart stopping fear. I know now why people have heart attacks from extreme fear. On the other hand, my boyfriend sprang into action. Within a few seconds, with sawed off shotgun in hand, he stood by the side of the truck, ready to shoot.

The beast was standing erect looking toward us and the truck. My boyfriend was now taking aim, ready to fire at any second. The beast seemed to be making eye contact with my boyfriend, and the eyes looked RED. Maybe it was the moonlight reflecting off the water that caused this, but I doubt it. I believe this thing was some kind of demon hailing from the depths of hell itself.

There was not one sound, not one cricket chirped or bullfrog croaked. There, on a lush mid summer night, it was completely silent. Then, the sound of shotgun shots blasted through that deep, dark silence. I saw the beast jump up as if he had been shot, and then he threw his head back and left out the most unearthly howl/scream I have ever heard. It made my blood run cold, and even now, all these years later, just thinking about it sends a chill of fear through me.

My boyfriend jumped in the truck and we were turning around toward the road we came in on when I saw the beast running toward us, upright, just like a man, but so much faster. Within mere seconds he was closing in on us, and I got an even better look at him. He looked just like the pictures of an Egyptian Anubis! His eyes glowed red as he looked at me, and he reeked of rotting flesh. By this time we were almost on the road and my boyfriend lost not one second getting us out of there. We hit the road at high speed and almost tipped over. For a few harrowing seconds the truck was on two tires until it finally flopped down with a spine altering jolt. With all four tires on the road again, we made our getaway. We heard one last enraged howl and then the creature was gone, left in the dust and the dark velvet of the summer’s night.

We told no one, knowing that people from small towns are not open minded. We only talked to each other of our bizarre experience. In the end, we both agreed that what we saw was not of this dimension we humans live in.

We went back to the same location the next day to see if there was any sign of blood or hair, or anything that would prove what we saw. There was nothing, nothing at all.

We could not even find evidence that we ourselves had been there the night before. We thought there would at least be the tracks of the truck’s tires and matted grass where we had parked, but there was nothing, absolutely NOTHING at all.

It was as if the events of that night were erased by a supernatural hand.

About a year after the incident, my boyfriend started having horrible nightmares about what we had seen. I thought it was odd that it took an entire year for this to manifest. After the bad dreams began, insomnia started and he was never the same again. Although I tried to help him in every way I knew how, my boyfriend could not cope with whatever was haunting him. One day he simply died of a heart attack while jogging. Being just 24 years old and in excellent physical condition, it was a shock to all. I believe his death was not natural but was the result of that night. Perhaps he was somehow HEXED by this evil entity.

All over Wisconsin there are people who claim to have seen a werewolf. I believe them, because I saw something that also looked like a werewolf or an Egyptian Anubis, an ancient god of the dead. Perhaps these gods are guarding the ancient Indian mounds?

Do these creatures really exist? Yes, I believe they do, but they are of the spiritual realm. I believe there are times in which we slip into that spiritual realm and when we do, we see things that we cannot explain. That lovely summer night in 1985 was supernaturally beautiful and calm. It was simply perfect in every way, the way the moon slid across the sky and caressed the waters of the marsh, the soft night sounds that lulled and mesmerized us…even the way the moon lit the clouds and the night sky, we could see so much more than was normal. Yes, I believe that somehow we slipped into another dimension and found the beauty and evil that lurked there.

The land of Wisconsin unrolls over huge deposits of granite. The ancients used granite to contact the dead. Perhaps these large deposits of granite under the topsoil of Wisconsin are the catalyst which transports us to another dimension?

Perhaps one day, scientist will become more open minded when it comes to the paranormal and will start to study these kind of events in earnest. I think we are already seeing this trend with some of the modern ghost hunters.

The ancient Indian tribes built their burial mounds over these granite deposits and crop circles have been found in these areas also. What does it all mean? Maybe one day, there will be a logical explanation, but then again, maybe not!

What a great (and scary) story! I live in Wisconsin as well. You've probably heard of the Lima Marsh monster, sometimes called the Beast of Bray Road. Lima marsh is pretty much in my backyard. I haven't seen or heard anything in the seven years I have lived here, but I have to admit I am a little skittish if I walk my dogs at night! Thanks for the well told story, I have goosebumps now...

This was a very well-written account of something pretty "out there." I live in the same area of Horicon Marsh and I can attest to there being something here that doesn't always seem right. Even our house (and many others in our area) are haunted. It does probably have something to do with the limestone bedrock and the groundwater so close to the surface of the land.

As it is, I'll take your advice and not go to the Marsh after dark again. We went one time and saw some really odd lights in the middle of the water. We were walking on the auto trail and it got pretty dark pretty fast. SO glad we didn't encounter anything like you saw or I probably wouldn't have been here to report. It's very eerie out there at night.

Thanks again for the great read. I'm sorry about your friend. Very, very odd...and sad too.

exorcism works, but is not effective. Fighting demons here on earth is very difficult. There are demons advantage.

(Imagine the ant-hill and someone who injects him with a stick. Who are ants bite? Stick or man?)

If we fight with them in their world, they will also have to worry about their existence. (They do not see us there - only when we want) Yes, they are very strong, but our imagination is much stronger. You know that many of the creatures we humans have created our uncontrolled imagination? But far worse are the demons (shadows) that the public knows. The companies are still present. We call it alcoholism, smoking, drug addiction, fanaticism and many others - does not kill immediately, but what is their time? There is an analogy mentioned above - stop smoking through hypnosis, etc., is more effective than quitting smoking using will. My whole life surrounded by strange things. Even as a boy (eighties), I met with the terrifying things in the woods, ruins of castles or Celtic ritual places at night. I am a magnet for these things

I could tell many stories of horrific encounters.

      Thank You Lone Ranger!

Wivo, you are interesting, I am looking forward to reading some of your hubs. Don't worry about the language, you are doing fine, I know what you are saying.

Actually, its demons that turned me from a passive Christian to an active Christian. Being raised in the Christian faith, I pretty much took it for granted. It was not until I was an adult and saw about exorcism that I understood the power of Jesus Christ.

This woman was taken over by an evil spirit after she got involved with the occult. She would have died if her family had not gotten her to an exorcist. The name of Jesus Christ was the only thing that evil entity respected!

Please take care with the occult my friend, Satan wants all humans dead. He is not our friend.

Thank you for responding, and confirm that your opinion on UFO's close to the truth. Yes, before people thought that they were demons - scientists, unfortunately, can not see into another reality, so they can not know how it really is. I'm not talking about studying theory but practice. Theory study much longer. The question is another - who said ”we can not look into another reality?“

God said it? (No, they told people)

if we were not allowed to look into other realities, our god forbids us even dreams. There are thousands of methods, how they look, many people are unaware that even dreams are one way. Other worlds are very similar dreams, there are many werewolves, UFOs (gray) and a lot of demons and terrible entities. But this is only one side of the coin, there are many good beings - but in a different space density. As I say, the problem here is not to evoke any poor creature. The problem is imbalance and consequences. After a bad intent is bad consequences.

Unfortunately, there are many people who know nothing about the occult (read one book and no practice), and the first thing they do is that they tend to evoke anything.

again sorry for the English, some thought is hard for me to translate

Der Wivo- Thank you for stopping by and leaving an interesting comment, I appreciate it.

I think you should check out my hubs about ufos and aliens, I think it may interest you, as I believe that the aliens are no more than the demons of old. Many serious ufo researchers believe this, guys who were studying this for 40-45 years! Of course at first they believed they were from outer space, but little by little they figured it out that this would be impossible, I always wondered why we never heard any sonic booms.

You should be careful what you are getting involved with, evil spirits are just waiting for guys like you who may be getting a little too experimental, the Bible tells us to stay away from the occult...and I believe there are good reasons for these warnings.

You might want to read the hubs of Highvoltagewriter, he actually had his own church of darkness and was into Satanism. When all his fellow occultist started dying off, he figured he better get out before he was dead too. If not for the prayers of his family he would not be here to tell us what he went through. Let me tell you, it puts a chill down my spine what he experienced. Demons are real, this is not the kind of stuff you want to be playing around with.

Hi wivo my name and I am from the Czech Republic.

I apologize for the English, is in fifth place of my speeches :-)

before the Second World War we have here in the heart of Europe had a very educated group of occult (horev, universalia, etc.)

I'm studying Hermeticism and magic practice about fifteen years from sources which the authors are of Czech hermetism left.

the problem is not just werewolves, but even a UFO, and other generally evil creatures. There is a connection between time cycles, environment and energy pathways of the earth.

scientists are only now coming to what occultists know long ago. our space in the vertical direction is parallel, but in the horizontal direction has a different density (as air). (Directions are for a better idea)

between our 3D space and other worlds is very thin line, under certain conditions it can be bi-directional cross.

Our material world is the closest neighbor of the world, in which the natural environment, smell, dark, cold, anger and instincts ... if our natural environment similar to theirs (the best - ie swamps. cold, smell, night, decomposition, etc.) can occur under certain circumstances, the penetration of both worlds. There are 3 ways: I. occult evocation II. naturally (see the cycles of time, environment, earth energy etc.) III. UFO (used space disruption for traveling and hiding - with them here secondarily invade other creatures)

fundamental expression of being a foreign presence is immediate and unnatural fear, sometimes accompanied by paralysis, the smell of decomposition, scary sounds, etc. It is much easier to evoke being evil than being positive. all thanks to the different density of adjacent spaces. God is not worthy old grandfather with a beard, God does not forgive anyone. everyone must pay for their actions to the last penny. evil man will pay just as evil creature - no one is advantaged

Just read your second comment for this hub Lone Ranger. Lots of people no longer believe in God at all. Yet, they believe there is a Satan! Its like they don't understand that Satan was once God's most beautiful angel.

I am sure God created Satan with the ful knowledge of what he would once day become. I never doubt what the Lord does. How would we understand "good" if we did not have evil to compare it with?

I would never sell my soul to anyone, and your are right, I should not even joke about that. I am sure God does not see the humor.

Evil seduces people all the time, I know that better than anyone from this experience, and I have become stronger because of it. I have no doubt that I had an angel looking over me more than once to save me from my own foolish folly.

Once again Lone Ranger you make sense. If I were still with that guy today, I doubt that I would be very happy. Yet, it is human nature to look back at earlier times and think those times were the best. Of course, that is rarely true. Now and I am older and wiser, and my happiness is not dependent on one certain person, and I am grateful to God for that.

I apologize, but my sixth line should have read, " image that (he) portrayed...."

Kitten, I know that you already know this, but perhaps it may be a new concept to some of your readers. The existence of God is not contingent upon the existence of Satan. Satan is not God's equal...he never was and never will be. In fact, he was a created being with limited power and was placed on a choke chain.

So, to say, "...if there is a Satan, then there is also a God", seems to imply that good and evil are conjoined twins, and one cannot exist without the other, which, as you know, isn't the case. Some believe that evil must co-exist with goodness, but that is just a human philosophy that doesn't hold water. Yin and Yang are concepts constructed from an inferior mindset.

My darling edelweiss, I am tortured by your last comment, ["In spite of all that, the flesh is weak. I think I would sell my soul to re-live that night with my first love again."]

Why would you say something like that? Is my love so short-sighted that she would trade away all the promises of Heaven for a few nights with a man? As the song goes, "If you believe in Heaven, baby, life is just a one night stand."

Why trade eternal life for a one night stand? Don't even joke about that, precious one! The love you will feel in Heaven will dwarf the inferior and pathetic carnal lust your satanist boyfriend had for you. If he truly loved you, he would not have led you like a lamb to slaughter.

Is the perfect sacrifice of Christ and the gift of eternal life in Paradise with Our Heavenly Father and Son so insignificant to you, that would toy with the idea of selling your soul, so you could relive that night with "your first love" once again? I am both shocked and troubled by your comment (tortured more like). :0(

My darling edelweiss, I know what it is like to suffer the loss of one's "first love". It was a powerful and magic time for me, too. My first love consumed my mind and filled my heart with joy. When I was with her I thought my heart would explode and my feet never touched the ground. When her lips touched mine, lightning reverberated throughout my body and soul.

I remember drowning in the depth of her deep brown eyes and refusing to come up for air. My whole life made sense to me. She was destined to be my forever love, my precious bride, the Queen of my heart, the mother of my children and the glory of my youth. Though I loved her fully, would do anything for her, and witheld nothing from did not come to pass.

Like you, I could not see what truly resided in her soul or the treachery that she planned. It took me awhile to segregate reality from fantasy, but when the fog had cleared I was thankful that The Almighty and His Son took her away from me. As painful as it was, it had to happen.

In the end, I had placed her upon the thrown of my heart...a place reserved for The Almighty and His Son. She became everything to me instead of Them. Though she was a major blessing in my life, at least for a time, The Father and Son were The Author and Creators of that blessing, but when I elevated the blessing above Them, it had to be removed.

I know what it feels like to be devastated and to feel the numbing pain of loss. I, too, have never loved again, like I loved her, for there is no substitution for being number one or being "first". But, at the end of the day, it's just a number.

For instance, my first car was my favorite; my first championship in softball was coveted more than the rest; watching my first child being born was more impressive than the second and third, though I love them all equally.

The bottom line is that I've owned better cars than my first one, and some of my future softball championships were more impressive than the first time, and each of my sons are as spendid as the next. So, it's the newness of the experience that makes an event or stimuli so cherished and memorable - not so much the object itself. And, you know what? Sometimes a person is more in love with being "in love" than they are with the object of their affection. Sad, but true.

Peace be with you, my love, and I pray that you reassess the yearnings of your heart.

Of course, your last sentence concerns me greatly, my lovely edelweiss. In as much as you loved your boyfriend, I cannot help but think that he was not being honest with you and I fear his intentions may have been something other than pure.

Subsequently, your love for him may have been based upon an image that be portrayed or an image that you projected upon him. He had a hidden life that concealed his true nature, therefore, you could not have been in love with him. As Scripture says, "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he."

I believe you were in love with an image, because his heart remained hidden from you. Hence, you could not have loved the man that he truly was, but fully loved the man he appeared to be.

I say this with deep conviction, because, I too, fell in love with an image and a dream, and it took me a great while to reconcile fact from fiction. In the end, she was just a figment of my imagination; a holographic projection of my dream girl, who was brought to life by my loving spirit, foolish heart and lying eyes.

The Almighty is The God of Peace and of Love and since your boyfriend was serving the father of lies and the lord of the flies, he could not fully love you or be trusted to do what was in your best interest. He was your Pied Piper...the agent of your destruction and, you, my love, may have been his sacrificial lamb.

With what you have told me, your boyfriend may have been too far gone and may have been struck down by an Angel of The Lord, to save your soul. What you do with your new lease on life is up to you and I pray that you invest it wisely by walking close with The Lord.

Please do not look back upon your youth and yearn to relive it, because it probably wasn't as good then as it seems now. The responsibilities of life and the myriad of curve balls that are thrown to us, in conjunction with the toll age brings to our bodies, makes the "good 'ol days" seem that much more appealing.

Lot's wife looked back with sorrow upon what she was leaving behind in Sodom and she was turned into a pillar of salt. She had made peace with evil and allowed it to prosper around her. She did not appreciate The Almighty leading her away from danger and giving her a new lease on life; she only thought about what she was leaving behind. An old racing car proverb states, "It matters not what is behind you. What matters, is what lies ahead of you."

Please, my precious flower, do not sell your soul so cheaply and throw away your eternal inheritance for things of a temporal nature. The love of a man cannot compare to the Love of God. If you want to be fully in love and full of life, you must come before The Heavenly Father and His Son to collect it. Anything else is just an illusion and a counterfeit and here today and gone tomorrow.

May Our Heavenly Father and Son bless my lovely edelweiss with peace, hope, faith, wisdom, true love and protection. Amen.

Yes, Lone Ranger, you make a very good point, he was deeply involved with the occult and I think he was using me in some kind of dark ritual too.

I believe demons are real, and the knowledge of what can really happen when involved with the occult has made me a much stronger Christian. I KNOW true evil exists, and if there is a Satan, then there is also a God.

In spite of all that, the flesh is weak. I think I would sell my soul to re-live that night with my first love again.

Scary stuff, but in some ways I envy your boyfriend and think this should have been the best day of his life for a number of reasons:

      1) You were deeply in love with him, which made him the luckiest man on earth

      2) He got to spend the whole day and night with you

      3) When frightened, you held him tightly

      4) He had the opportunity to show his metal by protecting your life and limb against a werewolf

      5) He was able to wisk you away from harm

      6) He was able to share with you this incredible experience, one which you will never forget...making his memory live on

I am so sorry to hear of his death, I know how much you loved him, and that must have been such a bitter pill to swallow, but I believe, my dove, that with his involvement in the occult, he may, in time, have led you astray.

I know that's being a little bold, but The Almighty may have taken him away to safeguard your soul. Perhaps the werewolf was there to collect his soul, because of his involvement in the occult. Who knows, and I don't mean to make light of this, but perhaps he made a deal with the dark side that if he could steal your heart, one of God's most beautiful flowers, then perhaps the dark lord could have his. Who knows, stranger things have happened. Peace be with you and yours my lovely edelweiss.

Back in 1987. When I was 7 years old. I seen a wolf type big foot type beast. Siting on the floor in the kitchen at my ants house playing with a toy truck my mom had just bout me. This beast came out of my ants bedroom stood in the dinning room. And stared at me with big White teeth and red eyes. I took my truck a threw it at the thing but I missed and it turned around and went back in to the bed room. Told my mom and they went to see if anything was there it was gone just vanished. And then a few days later I was really scared so I slept in my parents room. And woke up in the mooring ant the same thing I seen at my ants house was looking at me threw the window at the end of the bed. It Opened up the cellar doors to the basement and went down the stairs I never seen it agin after that. But I still think about it all the time. This happen in lake mills Wisconsin. Just out side Jefferson.

That's given me a great idea for a story! in egyptian lore, jackals were considered protectors of the dead as they spent alot of time in graveyards. This is how anubis came to have the head of a jackal. anouther intresting thing to note is the loyalty that dogs and wolves have. i wouldn't be surprised if werewolves do exist to some kind of extent (i doubt they'll be like in the movies tho), probably they have some kind of job to do at certain times of day and the month perhaps.

Fascinating story about your paranormal experience, Magnoliazz, and so sorry to hear that your boyfriend passed over so young. Never realised that there were so many werewolf stories about Wisconsin.

Thank you so much for your informative comment Blake4d! Your widom about this kind of thing astounds me, one can tell you are a liflong student of ancient knowledge.

When it comes to religion, I am not easily offended. So, do not be afraid to speak your mind, and it makes a lot of sense that Jesus was a Pisces. I love it when people think for themselves and do not accept the same old party line, that's what made this country great at one time.

the 91st and 23rd Psalm, thank you so much...I never knew that before!

Hello Magnoliazz...I have taken time to carefully read not only your hub but all the varous detailed responses. First of all my sympathies that you had to deal with the death of your love and he was so young. I know something of that kind of loss, but in short my heart goes out to you.

As far as beomg born on the same date in March as Cayce...well you are born aspected in Pisces, your sun sign is thought to be the most psychic of all the 12. Not to argue Scriptures but Jesus of Galilee was a Pisces (I know Christianity celebrates him being born on Xmas, but historically why Christians to this day use the symbol of a fish to represent Jesus, is that most scholars will argue that he was actually born somewhere closer to April Fools Day or Easter. Just humor me if this offends anyone, Jesus was born in the springtime if at all. A manger would have been freezing cold in Jerusalem at Christmas time, the manger story verifies the time of year.) Anyways...

As a Pisces you are naturally gifted with psychic intuition of a strong potent nature, this to me would explain why you have had more than a few times in your life where paranormal events are visible and in your awareness. Maybe even why you and your late love came together. You say he practiced the occult, you see energies and feel them naturally. So he probably needed you if he was not as intume. Hard for me to judge that.

You have clearly identified Anubis, not any other egyptian figures as being exactly like what you saw. This I know, most egyptian figures are part of a royal family story Isis mother, Osiris father and Horus son, the central story. The family is a bloodline story Osiris is almost comperable to Jesus for egyptian mythology (he dies is resurrected and many other similarities) he is a King of Kings like Jesus also. But Anubis (or Anubins for truly they are plural) are not part of this royal family. Look at how they are dressed, almost like royal guards, a staff weapon in one hand which has a jackyl head just like Anubis (this symbolizes them being a royal guard or military ) in the other hand Anubis carries an Ankh (this is the holy symbol of Osiris as a divine lord, just like the cross symbolizes for Jesus, the Ankh is probably the oldest symbol of immortality known) this identifies Anubis as a royal guard and more specifiically the guardians of Osiris not in life, but in transition and in the afterlife.

Jackyls do not hunt their own food, they travel in packs, wait for a larger predator to kill an antelope eat its fill and then when the carcass is left alone, they scavenge the remaining meat and bones. Jackyls are very close genetically to dogs. Anubis has a jackyl head because he only appears to carry away the dead, dispose of the dead, bury the dead, or may appear at a time when someone is near to their time of the modern Grim Reaper without the hooded skully stuff. Although the cults of egypt are long dead religiously speaking, since Rome conquered them...but the energies were not just religious fancy. You may take this with a grain of salt...but there are older things that exist on this earth than Humans, and most of them are connected with the Dark earth energies and more specifically they are linked to the death cycle of life.

Now I am not saying that Anubis killed your loved one, But it is my experience that Anubis of this kind of form, is very old and does not show itself to anyone without a damn good reason. Usually as a warning that the person is going to die fairly soon, And they follow and wait until the momment of death, and like the first pic you have shows...they then follow the body to its burial (ie Anubis is leaning over Osiris in his sarcofigas, or coffin - Anubis is in prayer pose giving last rites to his King of Kings, and Anubis says the words and ritual to release the soul and allow it to move on to eternal life.)

I guess while still alive, witnessing one of these cretures is sure to be frightening, Especially if you are not the one it is waiting for. But evil, I am not sure that is what their purpose was at all. They may have even been trying to prevent your boyfriend from his fate, but they are not allowed to interfere if a person is determined to die.

And a heart attack so young and healthy, something outside the norm was acting in his life to cause that. I don't want to upset you, so here I will stop. Again just food for thought, and maybe some clarity.

If you do ever run into them again. All you need do is say out loud ' I am alive, and you are not here for me ... begone to whence you came '. And they will leave.

If you prefer a scriptural resource.

Psalm 91 (king james or whatever bible - the psalms are the same in all the translations) is the psalm used to banish all evil or spirits of the dead. I repeat Psalm 91.

Do not make the clerical error many do

The 23rd Psalm (Lords prayer) should never be used to banish evil or the spriits of the dead. Only say the Lords prayer aloud to other living things. It has a completely undesireable effect if you don't follow this rule.

I know this from experience. I have studied exorcism, voudou, and enochian magicks as a kind of hobby for many years, I don't claim to be a holy man, But those basic guidelines are known to Catholic Priests, Voudou Shammins and sorcerers of any ranking.

Now enough with the dogma for today, let's party!!!

Always end discussions about death with celebration. A light heart, mends the heavy soul of all wounds eventually. God bless you Magnoliazz....

Hi..I am a christian...I got my wake up call when I started experiencing demon attacks in full manifestation...and seen angels as a result of this..I never was a believer or a christian or even gifted in the paranormal...I do know about the werewolfs myself...I do know one personally...he almost looks human but has transformed a lot...he has deep blue eyes that can lock your soul in his power and draw your life or your soul directly out of you into himself..thus causing death..oh and yes..I also almost died of an unknown sudden heart attack...but that day I could see into the spiritual realm and it was a spirit..Satan's older brother who was standing with my fleshly heart in his fist and slowly squeezing it till no blood comes through..Jesus appeared out of nowhere and rebuked this spirit..and he let loose of my heart...I still live today only because I became a christian in time and Jesus guards my life blessed...

      Hello Fen Lander!

I appreciate your input! From your hubs it is obvious you are a very intelligent man.

Perhaps a certain set of energies that night acted as a KEY to unlock the apparition? I continue to believe that the Native American burial mounds had something to do with the entire ordeal.

Anything that can logically explain this, I welcome it! I wonder if i waanted to see this thing again...if it would appear to me?

A psychic told me that my birthdate, the same as the late Edgar Cayce could have something to do with it, but I don't know about that.

I came back and read this again. There are good zodiacal/astrological reasons for these apparitions. I don't think Evil is the cause. Like in England, the land is responsive and responding to 'mythological-zodiacal' forces/imagery etc. N. America would be in Libra in my zodiac. Libra is the 'halls of judgement' where those dog-headed entities stand guard at the gates.

The most ancient and venerated goddess of ancient Egypt was a vulture-headed woman called 'Mut' or 'Maut,' where we got 'mortuary' and 'mortal' from. Terrifying, pre-Christian and as well-wishing as Jesus.

Dogs live among humans. We have tamed the forces of the canine- like every other wild and smelly creature, and there really is nothing but fear to prevent you and us from taming whatever kind of beast lives beneath the Wisconsin moon (or sun). Hope you don't mind me saying all that?

Please protect yourself when you are in remote areas. Protect yourself spiritually and physically. I believe these creatures are supernatural evil beings that are summoned into an area by people who practise occult rituals.

If you are right with the Lord, they can't harm you. Just remember that God will protect you from all evil if you just ask.

Just be real careful, always follow your instincts!

Gosh!! Is it really real!! I always thought America was too modern for all these spooky tales!! I am in minerals business here in India and often spend my nights in desolate rural surroundings where such tales abound in plenty but being a city monger basically, I never belived them or never in awe of them!! You make me think otherwise with this hub!! What to do?

Yes! My boyfriend did die at the age of 24 from a heart attack, just about a year after our sighting. He was in very good shape and died while jogging. Personally, I feel like something of a dark nature killed him. He was never the same after we saw this thing, it haunted him until his death. It is just one of those unexplainable things in life I guess. I did find out many years later that he was heavily involved with the occult, his sister told he thought he got in over his head. I never knew that side of him, and I thank God that I did not get involved with it either.

What you experienced has been reported so many times that I don't think it can be dismissed as hallucination or misidentification (a bear, a coyote, a dog, etc.) Most of the reports have that intense 'hair standing on end' quality that mark the event as most likely supernatural.

Personally, I think we see the supernatural things we see for a personal reason. You say that things ended tragically for you and your first love. Did he die? I only ask because Anubis is the god of the dead in Egyptian mythology, and was charged with ferrying souls to the underworld safely when they departed this world (the underworld was not the same as hell in the Christian tradition--it was just where the dead went first, when they first died.)

Also, the loup garou werewolf in American folklore was a grieving person, usually a man, who turns into a werewolf by night and is depressed and melancholy by day. It often takes him awhile to realize the rage/sorrow split in his psyche and the shapeshifting element of his soul.

So this all kind of fits the situation the two of you faced, or predicts it. Maybe it means nothing, but it is interesting anyway.

Terrific hub. You are a very good writer!

markminer 8 years ago from Albany, Oregon is why. My fiancé and I were nearly attacked by a "dog thing" in Albany, Oregon. And since then we have done some research and found out that there were 23 other reported incidents within 2 years. All of them were scoffed at by the police and not taken seriously. I have talked with each and every one of them and we come to conclusion that we all saw the same thing and could not describe that unusual growl that emitted out of the beast. In fact I'm writing my next book called Williamette Werewolves due to the increasse of sightings.
