Timeshare in Fairfield Bay Arkansas
General maps of Fairfield Bay AR
Which complex am I in?
There are four complexes of units in Fairfield Bay; Cliffside, Hamilton Cove, The Fairways, and Mount Meadows. In one of the many brochures we picked up it states that their VIP Condominiums are the Fairways, Hamilton Cove and Mountain Ridge. You check in at the Wyndham Welcome Center one of the few places that you have free internet access. Other places you can get free internet access while we were there in May 2016 are the library, a restaurant or two, the conference center and the Senior center.
Having seen the pictures on the websites we expected to spend some time outside throwing the football or frisbee. We expected to be staying at a place that looked like the ones in the video below with the golf course in back and some green space in the front. But we ended up staying in the Cliffside units (see below for pictures). While we were there, two of the complexes were being remodeled. The place where we stayed is ready for a remodel. The look of the inside is very 70's the fixtures and all. I have a sensitive nose so it smelled a bit musty and damp.
Be aware that you need to have a prepaid phone card when you stay here. Our cell phones did not work and we have two different phone plans neither worked. To call out from your timeshare you need to call collect or have a pre-paid phone card. I recently got the bill for the phone call I made once we got there. The call was about 4 minutes and the cost was thirteen dollars. So be brief or have that calling card available.

The Kitchen and Food
When we plan these trips I have a menu that plans on using very little of the items that is there mostly as I am not sure what will be available. There are multiple places where you can get ideals for a menu. I myself do not plan to cook every day while on vacation. Several people have great ideas about what to cook on a vacation with a kitchen but that is another hub another day.
The kitchen is a good size. While the rest of the place is a bit dated the kitchen has some new items. So what is available in the unit? The blender is great and I could see making smoothies with it. Coffee is necessary even on vacation. And they have gotten a great machine. The basics are there dishwasher, oven, range, toaster, microwave. There are an abundance of drinking glasses, plastic and glass. Dinnerware service for 6. The following is also available; cookie sheet, pizza pan, 2 cutting boards, 9x13 baking dish, colander and plenty of kitchen utensils.
What about groceries? Well that is all in how you plan. There are two grocery stores in the Fairfield Bay area plus a convenience store that helped me out with my ice cream addiction. In Clinton there are two grocery stores you can use to stock up just remember it is 22 miles to Fairfield Bay so unless you have a cooler I am not sure you want to buy frozen foods there.

What to do in Fairfield Bay?
There is a lot to do in Fairfield Bay. The closest town Clinton AR and is 22 minutes away. And let me tell you the drive is crazy twisty turny crazy. So just running into town is not something you are going to feel like doing very often or at least we did not.
Fairfield Bay is a town of 14,000 acres and 2,238 residents some full time some part time. Mentioned earlier the Wi- FI is on the way so this is the place to go to unplug. There are multiple walking trails there. Be sure to check out the Indian Rock house Cave. It is historic and cool. There is a library which has restricted hours but still great to pick up a movie. They lend with a few guidelines. Miniature golf is available as well as Frisbee golf. The bowling alley there is small but sufficient to have a great time. In the bowling alley there are two pool tables and some arcade games. Plenty of swimming pools indoor and out. Basketball and tennis courts are available. There are parks with walking paths. A marina where the kids had a blast feeding the fish. The store there sells fish food for $.50 I think.
We really had fun in Fairfield Bay and if I could get an upgrade to the VIP condominiums I would go back. It is budget friendly and just plain friendly. I will say the best pictures we took and the coolest place we went was off the beaten path, literally. We got the information from the guide at the Indian Rock house. It starts on concrete and goes off a street onto a one vehicle wide mostly cut back path with a clearing near the edge. See below for pictures taken there. we made it there and out with our minivan but if you are really concerned about paint job not sure I would recommend it.

Day trips from Fairfield Bay
We got some great information about places to go from the guide at the Indian rock Cave home and museum. Truly she was just an absolute fountain of information. Blanchard Springs Caverns http://www.blanchardsprings.org/ is a short drive away and a place to go on a rainy or HOT day. Did you know the caves are typically 58 degrees year round? They have 3 different daily tours you can take. Prices start as low as five dollars for children and ten dollars for adults.
Another close location is the Natural Bridge of Arkansas in Clinton. #mce_temp_url# It is a natural formation that we can no longer walk across but viewing is supposed to be great. This formation is an over 100 foot bridge. It is open from mid March to October. Adult entry is five dollars. There is a gift shop and a forest ranger.
Little Rock is little more than an hour away and offers a huge variety of things to do from a Presidential library to Central High School Historic site. There is an outlet mall and so much more. You can take the Streetcar around the River Market area and beyond.
If you are into antique shops and flea markets you will find some along your drive up to Clinton.
