Updated on July 20, 2014

San Francisco Zoo

The San Francisco Zoo has over 1,000 exotic, endangered, and/or rescued animals from more than 250 species. The zoo also has gardens with native and foreign plants. One of the main exhibits in the zoo is the multi-species landscape that has a combination of giraffes, zebras, kudu, ostriches, storks, and more all in one habitat. The zoo charges both for parking and admission; Adults (15-64) are $17.00, Seniors (65 and over) are $14.00, Children (4-14)are $11.00, and Children (3 and under) are free. Parking is $8.00 on weekdays and $10 on weekends.

Flora Grubb Gardens

The Flora Grubb Gardens is open Mondays through Saturdays from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sundays from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. The Flora Grubb Gardens is not so much a garden as much as it is a huge planting store with all sorts of plants, sculptures, and pots for sale; even so many people come here just to walk around and take in the flora.

Ghirardelli Square

Ghirardelli Square is a landmark public square with shops, cafes, and free WiFi that used to be a chocolate factory before becoming a shopping center. The square plays host to numerous annual festivals like the Ghirardelli Chocolate Festival, the Easter festival, and Fleet week.

Walt Disney Family Museum

Walt Disney Family Museum has many different exhibits such as: Walt Disney's early years, Hollywood, New Horizons,The Move to Features, New Success & Greater Ambitions, The Late '30s to Mid '40s, Post-war Rebuilding, Walt and the Natural World,The 1950s & 1960s, and Remembering Walt Disney. The Walt Disney Family Museum also has film screenings (that are included in the general admission price) available to guests everyday except Thursdays. Walt Disney Family Museum open daily at 10 am and closes at 6 pm everyday except Tuesday, January 1st, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. The Walt Disney Family Museum charges adults $20, seniors $15, students (with ID) $15, Youth (ages 6-17) $12, and children younger than 6 are admitted free.

Japanese Tea Garden

The Japanese Tea Garden is a Japanese-style garden with a tea shop and gift shop. The garden has classic Japanese elements like an arched drum bridge, pagodas, stone lanterns, stepping stone paths, native Japanese plants, koi ponds and a zen garden. The Japanese Tea Garden is open for 9:00 am to 6:00 pm during the summer(3/1 through 10/31) and 9:00 am to 4:45 pm during the winter(11/1 through 2/28). Admission is free on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays if you enter the garden before 10 am. Otherwise adults are $7, Seniors (65+) and children (12-17) are $5, children (5-11) are $2, and anyone under 4 are free.

Pier 39

Pier 39 is a great place to shop, eat, and relax. Pier 39 has more than 60 shops, 32 restaurants, and live music almost every night. For fun Pier 39 has the Sea Lion Center, Aquarium of the Bay, the 7D Experience, the Bay Theater, magic shows, street performers, rocket boats, and for adults there are wine tastings on the bay.

The 7D Experience is a massive movie screen with the newest 3D technology that makes the viewer a part of the show. Some of the available scenarios are: defeat robots in the wild west, battle ghoulies in a haunted goldmine, go on a pirate adventure, and/or experience a zombie apocalypse. Riders/viewers wield a plastic gun used to shoot at the screen. The 7D Experience’s LaZer Challenge allows guest to pretend to be a super spy as they attempt to navigate through a field of lazy beams to get to the other side before time runs out.

I have been to the Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park; Ghirardelli Square and Pier 39 but not these other spots. The tea garden you mentioned is obviously a different one from the one I have visited. San Francisco is such a great place to visit!
