Memphis Romantic Holiday

Memphis, TN is a great place to celebrate Valentines Day whether you reside there or plan a romantic trip for this sweetheart day.

B&B: Talbot Heirs

The Talbot Heirs is a downtown Memphis jewel that has themed suites. Each one an art creation in its own right. It is unorthodox, comfortable, and close to Beale Street. Room number six has a Gothic iron bed,a fainting couch, Tennessee marble floor, and plantation shutters according to Best Places to Stay, The South.

The suites have a complete kitchen and the owners will stock it for their guests ahead of time with requested foods. It has all modern conveniences, and they provide unexpected extras like hair dryers and irons.

Things to do on Valentine's Day in Memphis

Dining

Paulette's Restaurant located at the River Inn of Harbor Town has won awards touting it as the top Continental cuisine in Memphis. It is considered the ultimate romantic dining spot in the city. Soon it will see its fortieth year of cooking fine food. The legendary strawberry butter is a delicious topping for popovers and other desserts.

Original art compositions, fresh flowers, high ceilings, and elegant woodwork create the romantic and intimate atmosphere wanted for a romantic dinner. The wonderful view of the Mississippi River completes the picturesque dining experience.

Folks Folly Prime Steak House boasts its own butcher shop adjacent to the restaurant. Alaskan king crab and roasted duck tempt the palette too. The smaller dining rooms are the best for a romantic feast, and the old fashioned ambiance adds to the whimsical feeling.

If a barbecue dinner is wanted the well-known Charlie Vergo's Rendezvous' stupendous charcoal smoked ribs, and chopped chicken and pork shoulder sandwiches attracts huge crowds. Intimate dining isn't found there, but delicious food like barbecued shrimp is on the menu. Those making a romantic holiday in Memphis may prefer lunch at this famous spot.

Concerts and Music

Music touches the heart and romantic songs create a great Valentine's Day mood. For those whose musical taste are tickled by opera, ballet, and Broadway productions the Orpheum Theatre will provide the right atmosphere.

Beale Street is a National Historic Landmark. The music on Beale Street is composed of jazz, rock, gospel, delta blues, R&B, and Alternative. It is famous for its tremendous musical history. The Rum Boogie Cafe's photo gallery sports the initial sign of the Stax Recording Studio, Elvis memorabilia, the Issac Hayes Shaft cape, Savoy Brown and Travis Tritt, and Delphonics guitars, and many other guitars previously owned by famous guitarists and performers. The Boogie Band with James Govan are featured.

The B.B. King Blues Club is renowned for local and international entertainment. The food menu includes fried dill pickles, barbecue, fried catfish, collard greens, white cheddar mac, and for dessert banana bread pudding or sweet potato puffs and caramel sauce.

Traditional Delta Blues are spotlighted at Mr. Handy's Blues Hall. This venue presents a picture of the old original Beale Street days.

For an Irish flair try Silky O'Sullivans. It features sing-along piano entertainment that is full of monkeyshines and tomfoolery. Barbara Blues also entertains with a throaty blues style.

Flowers: Dixon Gallery and Gardens

People always think of flowers for this romantic day. The gardens offer open vistas and more private spots in which to romance a spouse or sweetheart. Gorgeous old trees are preserved in the park of formal and informal style gardens.

If February weather isn't conducive to a stroll in the gardens the huge collection of decorative art and paintings will dazzle the eyes and provide cerebral pleasure year around.

The Mississippi River

The cruise season for Memphis Riverboats begins on March 1 each year, but private charters are available, and they schedule a public dinner cruise especially for Valentine’s Day. A paddle-wheel brings back old fashioned romance amd makes Valentine's Day an event.

The sweetheart day is complete in Memphis with music, flowers, art, scrumptious food, a cozy and eclectic place to stay, and a riverboat ride down the muddy Mississippi.

I've ridden on Greyhound buses quite a few times too. Glad you enjoyed the article and the music. You gave me a chuckle with Deltachord did it.

I was thinking earlier I need to go grocery shopping and get an oil change.

      Thanks frogyfish.

Enjoyed your inviting places described! I have only been to Memphis on Greyhound buses a lon-ng time ago going from OK college to Florida for summer work. And it was always at night.

Enjoyed the rhythmic music and as I now leave to go grocery shopping, I will be wiggling and jumping to the cheerful music of your video. I'll tell them 'Deltachord did it' when they look at me.... :-)
