Villas to Rent in the Algarve-Do your Homework Before you Decide on Your Holiday Villa

Updated on March 11, 2011

Holiday Rentals in the Algarve

In the last decade the Algarve has seen a steady increase in its main economy! The conditions offered now to holiday makers are much more professional than it was years ago! The ministry of tourism has forced on owners that have holiday rentals in the Algarve to improve the conditions and declare the number of beds they have to offer!

The yearly revenue from tourism has surpassed agriculture almost twenty years ago and tourism is still in the rise! For the past three years it has been a bit sluggish due to the changing World economy, but then again there is a report from a British renowned University that the Algarve will have an average increase of 7% every year in tourism until the year 2020!

Going along these lines then holiday rentals in the Algarve will be after all a well sought investment that many will want to jump into in the near future!

But the reason I´m writing this hub is to inform you about holiday rentals and their location in the Algarve and information on those same villas you should ask so you can decide on the best location for your holiday needs!

You don´t want to end up in a villa in a mountain somewhere and have to travel 30km to your nearest 18 hole and the same back home if you´re a golfer! As well you do not want one of them villas to rent right smack in front of a busy beach if you´re an enthusiastic and dedicated bird watcher!

Some tools you can use in making the right pick and one of them is Google earth to pinpoint exactly one or more of them potential holiday rentals in the Algarve that you might be interested in staying for a week or two! So first of all get GPS coordinates from all owners that have holiday rentals in the area you and your family most prefer!

Despite the info you have to ask such as prices per week that is usually in Euros or Pounds, rental periods, when is changeover day and times, accommodation info as nº of bedrooms, bathrooms and if it has a pool! Ask if kitchen is fully equipped (small note: some owners that have holiday rentals villas leave a welcome basket with some drinks and snacks in case you arrive late), living rooms, cleaning/towels/linen and if maid services provided and how many times a week!

Some owners ask for a security/breakage deposit that will be refunded to you a few days after your holiday!

Ask as well about the outside surroundings, if the property is fenced or not, which are the closest restaurants, bars and supermarkets. Get the names of the closest beaches of those villas to rent and how far they are!
If you´re in to sports, what sort of sports can you expect to find near that holiday rental villa!

The airport is centrally located in the Algarve and travel times from the airport to any one of them holiday rentals you end up choosing could take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour, so make sure you rent a car so you can travel and get to know the Algarve!
