Visit NJ - In Monmouth County

When visiting New Jersey, you must stop by Monmouth County.  The history, beaches, and beautiful architecture of the county will blow your mind.  Established in 1865, Monmouth county consists of 472 square miles of land and 193 square miles of water.  The county also has 19 different beaches.  Bruce Springstein put Asbury Park on the map just by growing up there!

Other famous people that has called Monmouth County their home: Queen Latifah, Count Bassie, Ashley Tisdale, Danny DeVito, and Mary Higgins Clark.

Battlefield State Park, Monmouth County NJ

Battlefield State Park is located in Manalapan, NJ in Monmouth County.  It's 1,818 acres are filled with history, along with hiking and horseback riding trails.  One of the largest battles of the Revolutionary War was faught here.  You can learn about the Battle of Monmouth, how the people lived in the area, and you can view a restored farmhouse from that time. 

Battlfield Orchards is also park of the park.  The Applegates have been farming the area since 1908.  They offer pick-your-own selections from the orchard, so you can grab a snack while you are learning about the history and enjoying the gorgeous views of the landscape.

Monmouth County, NJ Architecture

Since the county is over 230 years old, the county has a ton of beautiful old buildings.  The Monmouth County National Register of Historic Buildings has over 80 buildings registered.  One of them is the oldest working lighthouse in America; Sandy Hook Lighthouse.  This lighthouse was built at the request of New York merchants to ensure the safety of their merchandise coming into America.  The first incandescent lamp used in a lighthouse in America was put into the Sandy Hook lighthouse.

Walking through the towns and beaches of Monmouth County and you can feel the history.  You can see the beautiful houses that have seen so much in their days.  The hundred year old churches, the beautifully old government buildings, and Revolutionary War buildings.....they are all right here for you to see, enjoy, and experience.
