The small emirate Qatar, lies halfway along the coast of the Persian Gulf, where there is a low barren peninsula and a few tiny islands.Qatar's nearest neighbours by land are Saudi Arabia and UAE.

Also known as The State of Qatar.Qatar  became an independent sovereign state in 1971

The summers in Qatar are uncomfortably hot, and temperatures can reach 50 degrees Fahrenheit in July. the winter months are much milder with rain more likely to the north.

Natural springs or wells are the major supply for fresh water , although desalination plants are also employed.

Sheep, goats and a few cattle provide the main agricultural activity in Qatar which is also famous for rearing some of the highest quality camels in the world today.

About Qatar

The discovery and exploitation of oil and natural gas in Qatar , has helped its citizens to acquire a very high standard of living,and is responsible for more than 75% of the countries export earnings.

Much of the revenue is used to provide first class hospitals and road systems as well as providing free education and medical care.

The Dukhan oilfield has a life expectancy of 40 years, and there are also huge reserves of natural gas. To diversify the economy new industries such as iron and steel ,as well as petrochemical plants have been developed.

 Qatar also has one of the lowest rates of income tax in the world.

Qatar has been chosen by FIFA to host the 2022 World Cup Finals, the first Middle East country to do so.
