Located in a valley surrounded by the Cascade Mountains is this little quaint and charming Bavarian Village called Leavenworth. The Wenatchee and Icicle Rivers run along the side of this beautiful little town. In the fall all the trees that line the river are in full rustic red, yellow and orange colors, simply gorgeous. But, no matter what time of year you decide to visit, you will be mesmerized by its old world character and charm and friendly faces everywhere you go.
The town is in the Bavarian Style

Christmas shops and tree lighting festival!
There is so much to see and do in this quaint and fun town of Leavenworth. Besides fine wine tasting the shopping is a must do. Leavenworth even has it’s own Christmas shop called Kris Kringle, a shop that features every type of gift and ornament imaginable. The other event you will have to add on your agenda is the Christmas Lighting Festival. We attended this a few years ago and it is spectacular! That event is also held 3 weekends in December before the Christmas holiday. Besides being totally amazed when they light all the trees in the town square, you can also take a romantic carriage ride thru the beautiful streets and experience Christmas Carolers in their old fashioned attire singing along the main street of town. If that doesn’t get you in the Christmas spirit nothing will.

Fun at the RV park
My husband and I had the pleasure of stopping by Leavenworth on our last trip around the Cascade Loop. It was in the fall so the park was not very busy, we stayed at the Icicle River RV Resort. It was very private except for a visitor, we had on the next day we were there. It was the park horse, he was so friendly and just grazed in the grass around the RV. We took some pictures and my husband even fed him a few carrots which later we realized was probably a mistake, because he wouldn’t leave. It was such a peaceful time there and the people were so friendly and helpful at every turn.
I hope you do visit this adorable town of Leavenworth, on your travels to this area. There are so many other places to visit on the cascade loop such as Wenatchee, Winthrop and Chelan, it’s a beautiful drive especially during the fall with all the autumn bold colors. So until next time – happy travels.
