Where is Tobago? Many people in the world do not know where Tobago is or that it even exists. When you look on a map you can hardly see Trinidad in the Caribbean which is like a dot and Tobago is located right next to it and is smaller in size!

So where is Tobago located exactly? It is in the southern Caribbean but to the north-east of Trinidad which is just above Venezuela. It is located 11° 9' N latitude and 60° 40' W longitude. The reason that it looks so tiny compared to other countries is that it has an area of 300 km2 (117 square miles). This is smaller than Omaha, the largest city in Nebraska which is just over 127 square miles.

Tobago is known as the birthplace of Dwight Yorke a former Manchester United standout as well as a former Word Cup soccer player for Trinidad and Tobago. He played for this top-flight English club in the times of striker Andy Cole, David Beckham, and goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel. At one time York and Cole were a fearsome attacking force for the ever popular soccer club. In his first year at Manchester United he helped the club win the Premiership title, the FA Cup title and the UEFA Champions League title – three titles in a row! A soccer stadium in Tobago is named after him.

Claude Noel is another famous Tobagonian. At one time he won the WBA (World Boxing Association) World Lightweight title as well as the Commonwealth Lightweight title. He won the prestigious WBA title on September 12, 1981. A highway in Tobago is named after him. In his professional career he has 31 wins and 10 losses.
Arthur Napoleon Raymond Robinson is another distinguished Tobagonian. He became the third Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago in 1986 and later the third President of Trinidad and Tobago (1997-2003). It was he who put forward the idea of an international court to deal with international crime and this subsequently became a reality in 2002 in the form of the International Criminal Court (ICC). The Tobago airport is named after him.

Tobago is also known as a country that tourists flock to as it has many scenic places of interests like beaches, reefs, historic forts as well as having indigenous birds. There is bird-watching and scuba diving in addition to frequenting art galleries, museums, hotels and guesthouses.
