Where to Stay in Gulf Shores, Alabama

Updated on February 2, 2017

Beachfront Homes

Gulf Shores has a great deal of beachfront homes on vacation rental management programs. If you are looking for a beachfront house that is still in the heart of Gulf Shores, you'll want to find something on West Beach Boulevard. Odd street numbers are beachfront homes, even are across the street.

If you prefer to be away from town in a secluded, private beach area, then I highly recommend the Fort Morgan area. There are many beachfront homes that are managed by several property management companies as well as individual owners. You can find many on VRBO.com, Homeaway, and FlipKey.

Condos

Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and the Fort Morgan area have many, many condominiums. Condos are great because they offer amenities not usually available when you rent a beach house. Each condominium will have different amenities than others. Amenities include indoor/outdoor pools, sauna, steam room, exercise facility, marinas, fishing piers, grills, children's play areas, lazy rivers, and etc. Individually owned or managed condos can be found on VRBO, Homeaway, and FlipKey.

A 2017 Update

A lot has changed in Gulf Shores since I last posted this article. The growth has been incredible! One of my personal favorite places to stay is Fort Morgan. I love how quiet it is. It's out of the way and is very private. Any home on Ponce De Leon Court will do. These waterfront homes provide a crowless beach view, less traffic, and an escape.

A tip for staying in the Fort Morgan area would be to stock up on groceries and make yourself at home. I love to plant myself on the beach and not have to deal with the lines at restaurants during the peak Summer season.

I love being able to rent beach equipment like beach chairs, umbrellas, even coolers and grills. The less I have to pack the better. Goin' Coastal Beach Services has taken very good care of us and we look forward to using them again.
