Why I Love Springtime in Arkansas
I am truly blessed
I am blessed to live in Western Arkansas. I am convinced that it is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Let me show you why this is never more true than in the spring.
Coming back to life
The landscape comes to life as the browns and grays of winter are replaced by countless shades of green. The gentle hillsides look as if an emerald carpet has been rolled out for a visiting dignitary.
Flowers return to share their splendor. Some are quite showy. Others are more modest but no less beautiful.
You feel good, The air is warm. The sky is blue-at least until the next Spring shower. All the signs point to the fact that it is far to nice a day to stay cooped up indoors.
Out of hibernation
Animals of all kinds, their bones weary from the long hard winter, bask in the warmth of the sun.
Reminders of the Past
Everywhere you turn there are reminders of a simpler time, an era long gone but not yet forgotten. The sight of an old barn or even an abandoned car can make you feel nostalgic.
This may be the age of technology; however, it seems that time has stood still in your corner of the world. The town seems to have changed little in last 100 years.
Even a now forsaken store front that once housed your uncle's grocery store takes you back to your childhood. You remember with fondness the times you went there with your Mother. You chuckle recalling how your uncle used to tease you by slipping little plastic birds into your purse which would only be discovered later as if they had magically appeared.
As you enjoy the beauty of a perfect spring morning you are mindful that it is fleeting. Even now, there is much work to be done as farmers gather hay for the coming winter.
