Canada is a big country. In fact, it is the second largest country in the world; with Russia ranking first. Because of Canada's wide lands spreading from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean, it is home to some of the world's most amazing wildlife and landscapes. In addition, there is a great deal of diversity to be found in Canada, thanks to the country's cosmopolitan cities.

More than 32,400,000 people currently live in Canada. But much of the country's population is situated near the United States border, giving the Great White North a somewhat misleading fact. The land area in square miles is approximately 3,855,102 (approximately 9,984,668 square kilometers). With such a huge land mass, it is no wonder Canada is indeed a playground that is full of so many spectacular things to see and do.

The Rockies

The western Rocky Mountains add a magnificent touch of glory for Canada. Interested skiers and hikers should not hesitate to explore some of the country's tallest peaks, such as Mount Columbia in British Columbia. Imagine taking a stroll through the Rockies, and then encountering sparkling lakes which are ideal for fishing. See the snow-capped mountain peaks that trigger shiny ice crystals. While staying in the West, one of the finest Canadian cities to visit is Calgary. It is located near the Rockies, and because of the mountains' tremendous peaks, you will be able to view them beyond Calgary's skyline.

The Central Prairies

Going toward the prairie provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba, it is all about the agriculture. Here, fields of wheat and barley blanket southern half of those provinces, giving way for delicious breads to eat. Did you know that Alberta is home for having the most hours of sunshine in the country of Canada? No wonder the province is nicknamed "Sunny Alberta." Seeing warming glows of sunshine that blanket the wheat crops throughout southern Saskatchewan and Manitoba is a must for those who have a passion for farming.

Quebec

Let's not forget Canada's east side. Many visitors across the globe will be fond of this portion of the country, especially in the province of Quebec. Picturing yourself walking through the ranges of Monts Notre Dame (A French name for Notre Dame Mountains). Observing mixed bags of deciduous and evergreen trees is a sight-seer's delight for spectacular views. It is highly recommended that you visit cities like Quebec City during the autumn months because the unbelievable colorful blends of red, yellow and orange from the maple trees make a perfect snapshot for your camera. This capital city of Quebec also holds the annual Quebec City Winter Carnival, which features action-packed sports and games.

Don't forget, traveling in Quebec is a must for viewing impressive French-style buildings and homes. Montreal has luxurious restaurants and accompanied cuisines that will leave you saying, "Hou la!" (French for wow!) If you are in Quebec City, consider visiting the world-famous Chateau Frontenac hotel as it overlooks the capital city. The building's grand structure definitely paints Quebec City with pride in the city's rich history.

Ontario and Nova Scotia

In Ontario, it is all about diversity and nature. Toronto has more than 5,000 restaurants with cuisines relevant to Chinese, Japanese, Italian, and more. One of the Seven Wonders of the World is located right on the border of Ontario: Niagara Falls. View the extremely beautiful waterfalls here and just inhale the tranquility of fresh air from the falls. Going east toward the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Breton in Nova Scotia has an unique mixture of deciduous and evergreen trees, which is relevant in much of East Canada's wildlife.

North Canada

Just because the tundra lands in North Canada is sparsely populated doesn't mean there's not enough beauty to encounter. There are still plenty of fishing spots around Thompson, Manitoba, which is over 800 kilometers (500 miles) north of Winnipeg. Green tall pine trees surround many small lakes near Thompson. Animals such as moose roam through the forests, while being ideal for some picture-taking. It may be quiet in North Canada, but there's still plenty to see and do there.

Overall, Canada is a great country to visit. You won't get bored as you visit the diverse cities and the amazing wildlife. Many visitors will find Canada to be a good place to visit. With beautiful lands and cities and fantastic architectural, the country is truly an escape for people of all ages.
