4 Wonders of Surigao del Sur, Philippines

Updated on March 12, 2017

Wondering to other places, aside from house and work, has never been more relaxing, stress free, and worry free. But what is more unwinding is when you meet with nature.

Never in my life have ever seen such magnificent God's piece of art. At one glance, the only thing that you can think of is the feeling of excitement of being with nature.

There are 7 wonders in the world. We already know what's on that list. But here in my list I'll show you and tell you about the wonders you can find in Surigao del Sur, Philippines.

First Wonder: Enchanted River

"Magical" is the word that comes from your mind as you try to grasp and capture the entire river with your own eyes. It fits perfectly with its' name. With the variety of fishes living in it, no wonder if you can't wait to jump on the river and swim with them. During noon, people swim out of the water. Why? It's because it is feeding time. What is more enchanting is that when the music is played, all sort of fishes are visible waiting for the food to be handed to them. Eyes can't be taken off as fishes are trying to catch the food while listening to a music which tells everyone to take care of the nature so that such beautiful art won't be forever gone.

Second Wonder: Tinuy-an Falls

Do you know what best describes this falls? It's the "Little Niagara Falls" of Philippines and has a high of 180 ft and looks like a three layered curtain. Though there are other bigger falls than this on other countries, Tinuy-an falls has special aura as you look at it. It's not only about how beautifully the waters flows down but also how the Surigaonons welcome visitors. I came there with a group and we were able to explore the three layers of Tinuy-an falls because of the residents who themselves lend their help unto us. They brought us on the top and took pictures of us. And also, they gave us a ride to the falls and let the water splash on our back disregarding how painful it is. The coolest thing is that a rainbow forms between 9 to 11 in the morning.

Third Wonder: Britania Islands - Naked Island

Britannia consists of 24 islets. But on our trip, we've only visited 4 and one of it is the naked island where a shore meets its' own (as shown in the picture). It has a small width but long stretched island with pure white sand. As you stood at the center of the island, the division of the sea is clearly seen as the splash of two waves on the opposite side meets together.

Fourth Wonder: International Doll House

I know girls would probably be envious if you see those dolls costumed according to different countries, designs and status. I really wanted to collect dolls way before I was young (every girl does).

Those dolls displayed were very attractive. When I was there, I thought of having one because they look like they were true people that were just struck by magic. If you would see and count each of them, it will surely eat your time. And you can't see any wall because they are all covered with dolls. Imagine how many dolls you could look at.

The doll house is located in Purok 6, Barangay Cumawas, Bislig, Surigao del Sur in which more than 200 mini steps up should be walked just to get to the destination where hundreds of international dolls are waiting for you.
