Disneyland is a Dream Vacation for Many Families

Cheap Hotels within Walking Distance of the Disneyland Main Gate

If you are planning a Disneyland vacation, staying at a hotel inside the Disneyland resort may not be in your budget. The Disney hotels are nice, but tend to be expensive. At the same time, you will want to stay in a hotel that is fun and convenient.

Even the Disney Corporation recognizes that they do not have enough hotels on their property to accommodate all the people who visit Disneyland every year. As a result, they have approved forty-one nearby hotels that meet their standards. These hotels are called Disney Good Neighbor hotels. Of those forty-one Good Neighbor hotels, eight of them are located on South Harbor Blvd., across the street from the main entrance to the Disney theme parks in Anaheim ... The Magic Kingdom and California Adventure. These hotels are fun, convenient and usually less expensive than the official Disneyland hotels.

Our adult daughters have stayed in two of those hotels with their families and have also spent a lot of time enjoying the casual restaurants along South Harbor. Although our home is only about 30 miles from Disneyland, they like the convenience of being able to just walk across the street to their hotel when they are going to spend two or three days at the park. Our daughter who has a young son likes the convenience of being able to run back to the hotel in the afternoon so he can take a nap and "refuel" for the evening. Our daughter who has teenage children knows that they like to stay in the park until it closes at about 1:00 in the morning. She likes to stay close enough that they can safely return to the hotel by themselves, even late at night.

This article includes information about the eight Good Neighbor hotels that are located on South Harbor across from Disneyland, as well as some basic information about each one. They are listed in alphabetical order in order to treat them all fairly. Read on to find out more about these eight hotels.

# 1. Anaheim Camelot Inn and Suites

This darling hotel is located at 1520 South Harbor. It is an attractive hotel that looks as if it was designed by the decorators of King Arthur's castle. Among the amenities are refrigerators in the rooms, a swimming pool and whirlpool. Free continental breakfast is included. This is a non-smoking hotel.

The Camelot Inn and Suites is a cute hotel that is exceptionally well located across the street from the main entrance to Disneyland and California Adventure. It is an easy walk into the theme parks. The other hotels that are mentioned in this article are all located within a couple of blocks of the Camelot and also provide easy access.

#2. Anaheim Fairfield Inn by Marriott

Two of our daughters have stayed in this hotel and enjoyed it very much. They thought it was very convenient to the theme parks. They were also able to watch the Disney fireworks each evening from the open walkways outside their rooms.

The Fairfield rooms have mini-refrigerators. The hotel has a heated outdoor pool, spa, gameroom, and guest laundry. It is located at 1460 South Harbor.

# 3. Best Western Plus Anaheim Inn

This hotel is located at 1630 South Harbor. The rooms have microwave ovens as well as mini-refrigerators. There is a heated swimming pool, whirlpool, guest laundry and dry sauna.

There are actually two Best Western Good Neighbor hotels in the area near Disneyland, so if one is booked, there is a good chance you can get a room in the other one.

Check out the Best Western shown below in the same neighborhood.

# 4. Best Western Plus Park Place Inn and Mini-Suites

Right down the street from the other Best Western is this one located at 1544 South Harbor. One difference between the two is that this hotel is listed as a non-smoking hotel.

The rooms have microwave ovens and mini-refrigerators. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool, whirlpool and guest laundry.

While there are other Best Western hotels on the Disney Good Neighbor list, both of these hotels are within easy walking distance of the main gate. If you wish to be sure that you are staying close to the Disney entrance, be certain that you have chosen the right Best Western. You will want to either stay at this one or the one mentioned above.

# 5. Carousell Inn and Suites

This hotel at 1530 South Harbor has microwave ovens and mini-refrigerators in its rooms. There is a swimming pool, fitness center and guest laundry on the premises. It is a non-smoking hotel.

# 6. Howard Johnson Hotel

One of our daughters stayed in this hotel with her family and it was definitely her favorite hotel on the strip, even though it was the furthest walk to the main gate. There are two reasons she especially enjoyed this hotel:

First, she paid a little extra to get a room with a view towards the Magic Kingdom. It was worth it when our entire family crowded onto the private balcony to watch the evening fireworks.

Second, the pool at the Howard Johnson Hotel is very kid friendly. In addition to the regular pool, there is a toddler pool and a pirate-themed water playground with slides, water cannon and a drench bucket. Our grandchildren loved the water playground, and it was a great way for them to cool off after a hot day at Disneyland.

The rooms at the Howard Johnson Hotel have private balconies and refrigerators. In addition to the pools and water playground, the hotel also has a game room and guest laundry.

# 7. Ramada Maingate at the Park

This Ramada Hotel is located at 1650 South Harbor. Guests receive a free continental breakfast each morning. There is a swimming pool and whirlpool at the hotel. It is a non-smoking hotel.

Your kids will love curling up in bed with Winnie the Pooh. This is considered a "Kids Preferred" Disney toy. Any fan of Winnie the Pooh will want this adorable plush toy.

Of course, there are other Disney stuffed animals. Click on the blue product name above to see your choices.

#8. Tropicana Inn and Suites

The Tropicana Inn is located at 1540 South Harbor. Guests receive a free continental breakfast every morning. Rooms have microwaves and mini-refrigerators. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool, whirlpool and guest laundry. The Tropicana is a non-smoking hotel.

Remember that all these hotels are within a short walk to the biggest attraction of all ... Disneyland. Room amenities may be less important to you than seeing which hotel is the cheapest, since you may not spend a lot of time in your room, anyway. Whichever hotel you choose, you can be confident that they are all on the approved list of Disney Good Neighbor hotels. Have a great time during your Disney vacation!

Have you ever been to Disneyland ... or would you like to go?

These hotels are wonderful choices for people who want a Disney vacation, but cannot afford the hotels inside the theme parks. They are close to the parks, some within walking distance, and they have a lot of fun amenities!

Back to bless this, as a mom who takes her kids here every year and appreciates staying so close to Disneyland.

I've actually stayed in most of these. I love how you can just walk to Disneyland from the hotel.
