I haven't been in any that were too bad while traveling or hiking, and never lived in a city where there were snowstorms. Since we retired to the Sierra Nevada foothills, we have experienced a few moderate snowstorms at our relatively low elevation of 3500 ft.
We have had roads and driveways blocked for a few days, and had some power outages due to downed lines, etc.
At those times we simply enjoy the beautiful silence and revert to century old technology of woodstove and candles.
City snowstorms are a whole different thing.
