ah Australia one of the places on my travelling list. I think you should check out Tavira which is in the Algarve in South Portugal it is 30km away from Faro and about 120km from the Spanish border so if you get bored of Portugal you could go and take a look at Spain, its a open border so you will have no problem in entering Spain. But Tavira will offer you a range of activity's to do, lots of different beautiful scenery's, 18th century buildings and churches dating back to the 16th century, many different structures like bridges and castles can be found here, most of which were built by the Moors and Romans, this little city has lots of history dating back to before the Romans. If all this is not for you than go hit the bars and clubs, in 2000 the Algarve got named the new Ibiza, so if you like clubbing and bars you are in luck.
In the recent years Tavira has become very popular with tourist, due to the high class golf courses, clubs scartared across the Algarve, but Portugal have made sure to keep the history that built there beautiful country visible to the public.
If you want more info on Tavira, i have made a hub about this place maybe you can have a look at some of the pictures there.
