   It's a toss up between the wild weekend in Iowa in 1994 (about which I wrote a hub) and two weeks in the South and West of England in 2003 that I haven't hubbed about(but will someday).

   About ten years ago, three months before Katrina hit, my daughter, daughter-in-law, and I went to New Orleans to vacation without the men. This was the first real vacation, solely for fun, that we had gone on with just us ladies. My husband usually planned and decided everything each vacation time. No offense is intended toward the men, but that was the best vacation I had ever had. The girls agreed, and we won't likely forget it.
   
   We went on a cruise, several tours, and did other happy things, including shopping for as long as we wanted. We ate where we wanted and what we wanted. We strolled sections of The Party City that fascinated us. We got caught in the rain and loved it. We ran across an artist who sketched caractures of us. I did not realize that we did not need a car in New Orleans. We got a downtown hotel that catered to most of our needs, including the convenience of shuttle rides to most places we wanted to go. A few times we rode street cars. I did not have to weave in and out of slow traffic and wait for thousands to clear the streets. I had parked in a garage, and we did not need the car until we were ready to go home. We splurged, denying ourselves nothing, and had a simple blast.

   Just got back from a month long vacation in Australia.
   
   I purposely did it by myself and it was amazing.  I'd recommend everyone do a long vacation by themselves at some point in their lives.  I'd always traveled in the past with groups of friends and this was a totally different type of adventure. 
   
   On your own you're forced to meet, mingle and figure things out.  It challenges you to be your best self.
   
     I started in Brisbane, then went on a camping trip to Frazer Island, then hung out in a small town called 1770 for a couple of days.
   
   After that I made my way to Airlie Beach and went on a sailing trip through the Whitesunday islands and went scuba diving at The Great Barrier Reef. 
   
   After that I flew to Sydney and hung there for about 5 days and then ended my trip in Melbourne. 
   
   Australia is a fantastic country to explore, there is TONS to do and everyone is super nice.  Anytime I was lost and looking at my map, someone would help me before I could figure it out.  I hope to someday go back but my eyes are set on South America and Asia next....I've been punched in the face by the Travel BUG!!!

   Last month I went to Jaipur. The trip was awesome. I enjoyed every bit of it starting from visiting forts, to their culture, food, festivals etc. There is a place called Chowkidhani in Rajasthan. Poeple across the globe come to visit the place to have a glimpse of their folk culture along with their foods. I shall always remember the trip.

   My honeymoon in Jamaica, when because of bad government (1984) and lack of food, there were riots in the streets. We were staying at someone's farm or pot growing operation up in the mountains, and found that we were unable to get back there because there were people blocking the way with burning tires (in Negril) and we couldn't or really didn't want to go back there. A nice Rastafarian warned us "they do not like white people up there" and so we didn't go. At some point I remember being there and a man offering to protect us for some socks that my husband had, and luckily  he had some extras, and gave them to this man. We ended up in a chicken shack back down in Negril, decorated with tiger prints and other exciting decorations (including a mattress) until we could leave on the first plane out of there, which necessitated our all getting to one end of the plane as it took off so that it could leave the ground. Oh, yeah, my husband helped some people who were starving get bread at a bakery (he's tall). This helped him be liked whether white or not, and we felt relatively comfortable with our friends the last few hours of our visit there. My friends Barbara and Steve, who had been on many such an adventure, decided to stay and enjoy themselves, and later on told us we had missed a wonderful time. I was just glad to see Miami, even in freezing January.
