Darn, my answer was too long. Got the "create a Hub instead" message, so I think I'll do that.
Basically, walk. Walk everywhere. You miss so much when you don't let your feet take you.
Some great walking neighborhoods include Queen's Quay, Younge Street, Queen Street, the "Beaches", the Queen Strip, Yorkville, Riverdale Park, High Park, CNE. to name a few.
Walk up Younge Street from the bottom of the city to at least Queen and Dundas (Eaton's Center). It's the longest "street" in the world running from the bottom of Toronto well into the bush of northern Ontario. (I used to be an editor for a small press publisher in the James Bay Frontier. Our address was 300,000 Younge Street.)
