    Language is important, absolutely! As you say, key words are good to know and a good phrase book/dictionary are well worth bringing. I like to make an effort in foreign non English speaking countries. appreciate your comments!

    Culture is important and interesting of a place, i agree H P Roychoudhury. It adds to the whole experience of the place. i have been in remote villages where a foreigner was a new thing,so knowing their customs and way of life was very beneficial.
