What is your favorite beach location?

Of all the beach locations, which one is your favorite and why?

Reddington Beach Shores in Florida, where I've vacationed with a girl friend for the past, we'll say several years at her timeshare. It is the same week every year, the same unit for seven glorious days with the beach at our doorstep, gas grills ready to cook our meals, a heated pool, homemade sangria and lots of coffee talk.

I don't go, but family does. One of the favorites is Nags Head because it is not a party beach or area, making it great for a family vacation. I wrote a hub on it.

So far my favorite is Myrtle Beach in South Carolina only because that is the only one I've been too. lol I loved it and I would like to go back.

Myrtle Beach is also ADA compliant and goes the extra mile for those in wheelchairs so that they can go on the beach with special wheelchairs that are available while there.

O.K.., I'll let the secret dream beach out for hubbers. Below Charleston, S.C., near historic Beaufort, there's a sea island called Hunting Island State Park. In the far past it was a hunting preserve for the wealthy. The beach is ala natural which gives one a different experience than the crowded beaches do. There are still folks enjoying it- largely Europeans at times, just far less. It has bathrooms but otherwise no commercial or residential development. A real treat--very neat.

How strange, bathrooms,  I can't think of any beach locations in the UK, with bathrooms, most though, have public lavatories.

Judging by almost everyone's -1 it appears there's a serious negative fixation out there in hubland somewhere. At any rate we call the loo bath or restrooms over here. Public lavatories and Grooms of the Stool are for the mother country lol.

On The east coast, autumn winter and spring, mostly cod; summer mainly flatties;  all the year round,  mainly smooth hound and smooth and thornbacked skate, some spur dogs.  I don't have any chance for fishing now, I suffered a stroke early year.

I have a pond in front of my house but it's been a while since I've been fishing in it, I hate to say!

Costa Maya, hands down.  Not as commercialized as the rest of the Caribbean, so more jungle, beach and less trash and tourist.

Waikiki Beach in Hawaii has been my favorite so far but I haven't been there since I was a kid. As for around where I live, Galveston, TX is my favorite. It's the closet city for me to get to even though it's still 5 hour away. The water might not look great but it's still a beach!

My parents and I went to Hawaii in 1972 and we stayed at the Sheraton Waikiki.  I went to Waikiki Beach everyday and I really enjoyed it smile!  Both of my parents are passed away now and of all the trips we took together, this was mother's favorite!

I should be wary to answer this question as there is a mad "Disliker" if you will.
Which is slightly ironic considering this question is based upon personal opinion, so in reality there is no right or wrong answer, just a well thought out and explained answer. To the "Disliker" you should be ashamed of yourself as all answers are great.

I have been to many beaches, those all over the U.S. and those out of the U.S. and one thing I have learned is that all beaches have their own unique characteristic which makes them enjoyable. Santa Monica, CA has a pier with many fun activities on the pier and in the city which is a moments’ walk away. Siesta Key, FL has their "Powder Sand" which is in its own right amazing, yet, not so amazing if you are a professional sand castle builder. On the Big Island in Hawaii you can find black sand, this is because of the volcanic activity in the area.

But, if I was forced to pick, I would pick South Bar & North Bar Lake in Michigan. It is home to the Sleeping Bear Dunes (Sand Dunes). Waters a bit chilly, but, you will not find another place like it and Traverse City is a very quaint place with many things to do for the whole family.

It is Culebra, Puerto Rico. That beach is beautiful with a spectacular view of the mountains.

I love the beaches in Hawaii!  They are beautiful!  The closest beach to where I live is in Gulf Shores, Alabama, though.  That's over 600 miles from here.
